Played By: Michelle Rodriguez

Before the Crash
Ana-Lucia worked as an officer of the Los Angeles Police Department with her work partner Big Mike. Little is known about her early relationships, though mention is made of Danny, who's presumably her ex-boyfriend. On a call to a reported burglary, Ana was shot in the line of duty. Being pregnant at the time, Ana suffered a miscarriage.

After a four month leave of absence, Ana returned to the force, despite the reluctance of Teresa Cortez, her commanding officer as well as her mother. The criminal who had shot Ana was soon caught by her colleagues, but when asked to identity her assailant, Ana lied, claiming Jason Elder was not the man who had shot her. She later followed Jason to a bar and, after he showed little remorse for his crime, shot him six times (right before telling him that she had been pregnant).

Ana Lucia quit the force the next day, after being confronted by her mother, who rightly suspected what Ana had done when she heard of Jason's death. Ana later got a job working at airport security at Los Angeles Airport, and it was here that she met Christian Shephard in the bar. Christian asked her to accompany him to Sydney as his bodyguard. She accepted, thinking she could run from her problems. They gave each other fake names, with Ana calling Christian "Tom" and he calling her "Sarah" (possibly in reference to Sarah Shephard, his daughter in law).

Arriving in Sydney, Ana witnessed Christian drunkenly confront Lindsey, a woman who was apparently keeping Christian from his daughter. Disgusted by his actions, Ana dropped Christian off at a bar (where he would inside meet Sawyer) and left. Back at Sydney Airport, Ana overheard Jack Shephard talking to the Oceanic desk clerk, and struck up a conversation with him in the airport bar. They discussed meeting on the plane, and Ana told him that she was seated in 42F, right at the back of the plane. She reassured Jack about his loss, never realising it was Christian, and empathised with his situation. The conversation was cut short by a phone call from Teresa. Ana told her mother that she had tried to run away, but now just wanted to come home. After some words of comfort from her mother, and a tear in her eye, Ana arranged to meet her mother at LAX, telling her that she would be on Flight 815.

On the Island
After crashing into the sea by the island, Ana-Lucia, like many others, helped the wounded get to shore. She notably gave one of the children CPR, and promised her that she would return her home to her parents. On their first night on the island, the group was attacked by the Others, and Ana became increasingly worried about the group's situation. When the Others attacked again a week later, Ana killed one of them, finding a list with the names of those who had been taken, including the children. Suspecting their was a spy amongst them, Ana became the unofficial leader of the tail section passengers, organising them to leave the beach for inland, where they could hide themselves more easily. Becoming increasingly suspicious of one survivor,Nathan, Ana threw him into a pit she had dug, and planned to torture him unless he revealed where the children were. Nathan would be killed by Goodwin, and Ana again moved the group on, believing Nathan had escaped and that their location was now compromised. Moving through the jungle, the group discovered the Arrow station, and made camp inside. Not long after, Jin, Michael and Sawyer arrived on the Northern part of the island, and when the found the tail section survivors, both sides suspected each other of being "them". Ana ordered the three to be put in the pit and, pretending to also be a prisoner, joined them in order to see who they really were.

After speaking with Jin, Michael and Sawyer, Ana decided to take her group across the island to the main camp, where she believed they would be safer from the Others, who had already taken 12 of her party. However, as they neared the Southern shore, they heard whispers. In the confusion, Ana shot Shannon as she emerged from behind the undergrowth, mistaking her for an Other. Shannon's death caused Sayid to attack Ana, and he was taken hostage. A guilt-ridden Ana later gave Sayid the opportunity to avenge Shannon's death, but he took pity on her and spared her life. Arriving at the main camp, Ana met with Jack, and the respective leaders of both groups stood looking at each other for a moment, as they both recognised each other from the LAX bar.

Though remaining a bit of an outsider with the main group, likely due to the animosity felt after she had killed one of their friends, Ana still remained an active survivor, planning with Jack the possibility of forming an army against the Others. Her strong attitudes against "them" was noted by other Losties, particularly Kate, who suspected her of being behind the attack on Sun in order to get her hands on the guns (though in fact she was innocent of this).

As a result of her experience with the Others, she was asked by Locke to interrogate Henry Gale, to try and help ascertain whether he was in fact "one of them". Managing to convince him that she wanted to help after stopping Sayid from shooting him, Henry drew her the map to his balloon and told her that his wife's grave should be located there. Disregarding Jack and Locke, Ana enlisted the help of Sayid and Charlie, and set off to find the truth. She discovered that Henry was in fact lying, and became one of the survivors to guard Henry in the hatch. Indeed, when Jack and Kate left to go to the line, Ana was attacked by Henry when she went to give him food. Henry claimed that she was not one of the "good people" but said that Goodwin thought she could be changed. After Locke intervened during the assault, Ana left the hatch looking for a gun to exact vengance. She found one from Sawyer, stealing it after they had sex.

Back in the Swan station alone, Ana had the perfect opportunity to shoot Henry, but couldn't bring herself to kill again. Michael then arrived and offerred to do it for her, saying that he also wanted vengance after the Others had kidnapped Walt. Understanding his emotion, Ana handed him the gun. Muttering "I'm sorry", Michael then shot Ana, as well as Libby, before freeing Henry Gale. Before her body was discovered, Ana appeared in a dream of Eko's, telling him that he needed to "help John". By the time her body was found, she was already dead, and was buried alongside Libby at the graveyard.
