Britain's Got Talent |
|
I don't usually watch this show, but I happened upon it last night, and I'm glad I did! This one act in particular, involving a Michael Jackson impersonator and a little extra surprise, rocked my world! The way it made me feel, it was great! I loved it! And comparing it to some of the other acts, it was like black and white! A league above the rest! At first I was worried it would bad, really really bad, but it turned out to be a thriller in the end!
(Puns very much intended, by the way... )

That was awesome. My friends watch it and I have been meaning to start watching it. I will have to see if I can catch it some time, it looks good.

Some of the people on it were terrible, but this one made up for it! When the second guy started dancing I was actually on the floor laughing!

I knew something was up when the second guy cam on the stage with his broom. Still it suprised me too when he started danceing, and just as good as the other guy. I half expected them to totally bodge it up with their timing together but they were really good.

Yeah, the bit at the end where they both jumped down onto the floor was timed extremely well. Very impressive.

Indeed, very impressive.
I dont know why but I was expecting the crosses on the table and above the stage to turn into ticks when the judges said yes to them.

Nah, I think it works like this - During the act, if the judges don't like what they see, they hit a buzzer in front of them and their cross turns red. If all three crosses turn red then they have to stop what they're doing and get ripped to shreds by the judges ( ), but if the judges don't buzz, or some but not all do, then the crosses stay white and the party continues...

America's Got Talent started a year before the British version (America - 2006, Britain - 2007), but apparently (According to my good friend Wikipedia) the idea was conceived by Simon Cowell in 2005, but the British version was postponed for two years, in which time Mr Cowell sold the idea to America. So although the American version was the first one to appear on our screens, the actual idea unfortunately traces back to the other side of the pond...

Wow, I think a lot of good tallent has come from there. It helps alot of people get recognized. Just think if we all some kind of tallent, that would be a great place to start your career. But that's my opinion.

You have a point, cheryl. However, it also provides the opportunity for the many people deluded enough to think they have a talent to make a fool of themselves (That may sound cruel, but some people that go on that show must be doing it for a bet or something, because some of the stuff I've seen can never be descibed as "talent" )

Lol Yes, some people, just like the x-factor and pop idol and what not, all seem to go onto the stage with not tlent and a big head and actually think they can sing.
If i were to try my talent on the stage then the entire audience would suffer and the judges hands would be going red raw because of the furiocity they are smashing their buzzers to make me stop.

I honestly have no clue what I would even try and pass off as a "talent" if I went on there...I don't suppose driving an entire studio full of people insane and making them want to rip out there eys and use them to block their ears (Two birds with one stone) counts as a talent...

Well in hell, pulling out your eyes and sticking them in your ears is a very good form of flattering. Its like throwing money onto the stage up here, but not coins, obviously that would be more of a pain than a peasure.
My talent would get the same reaction, only unless people leave to building within 2 minutes then they will know why i give the term "The crowd has gone wild," a whole new meaning.

So does that mean that it was started by the Americans or the British? i know Simon cowell thought up the idea but technically the Americans were the ones that started it first, since he sold his idea to the......oohhhhh my brain hurts

Yeah, the idea was already thought up, and the British version would actually have been out before America's were it not for Paul O'Grady (Who was originally intended to host the show) switching from ITV to Channel 4...
I should point out that I am not in fact a BGT buff, I got all this info of the trusty 'net.

Yes, you may be right there Sawbucks.
Speaking of the World Wide Web, and going off topic, again, the World Wide Web as been around for 15 years now, having its 15th birthday today. I can't believe how young it is, it feels wierd being born before a huge global phenomenon like this.

Wow, it seems like it's been around for ages longer. Though as Tris pointed out, I was pretty young before it was invented and wouldn't have had much use for it anyway.

I remember when they first came out, I said to my self I will never have one. they are too exspensive, but again I said that when cell phones came out too, and I've had many of both.

You got that right, I remember getting our first color t.v., they came out in 1954 of course I was not born until 1958 but we could not afford a color t.v. untill I think I was in the 4th grade so that would be about 1967. Like everything else it was so exspensive at first. I remember getting our first dishwasher too. (they were too exspensive as well) I think my mom and dad must have been doing better in 1967 cause that's about the time we got our dishwasher as well. anyway, those are things you guys have always had. We had no video games growing up either. I remember when the Atari came out my kids were young. So for me growing up it was all about riding our bikes, skating, making forts. going to friends house and playing. nothing like it is today. and I would not change my childhood for nothing........

Wow, you truely do amaze me Cheryl. I keep forgetting how much longer you have been on this planet that we have. All the wisdom and knowlage you have totally pbliterates anything I have gained through my short time of living.
I have been to the past, when schools were strict and play time really did mean using your imagination and playing games. I guess it would have been a lot like playing in the play ground at school. You couldn't exactly watch t.v. or play a video game in the playground. It would have truely been a magical time, if i had a time machine, i would love to go back and see what life back then was truely like.

I know! I've become so dependant on all this modern technology, I don't know what I'd do without it!
Though I admit that when I was a nipper, going back about 12-15 years, I very rarely used technology, let alone depended on it. Sure, I used to park myself in front of the TV when I went home for my lunch (My back garden literally opened out onto the school playground, so I used to hop the fence and nip home for some Spaghetti hoops on toast quite frequently), and I enjoyed playing the old Gameboy now and then...But back in those days, I spent almost all of my spare time playing football or various other outdoor activities. Though again this probably had a lot to do with the close proximity of the playground, and the fact that a lot of my friends lived less than five minutes away, so those sort of things weren't exactly hard to organised.

Indeed, i remember when I was a wee one. going back 13 years or so, I would go to my aunties, who owned her own stables not far from where I lived. She also owned a field with a large pond in which every year got tadpoles in it. I would spend hours watching the tadpoles try and swim away from the large, clumbsy paws of Spike, my first ever real dog (i was born with him already in the family). I would also throw a ball for my aunties dog, but I have forgotten his name. Its been too long.
My mum would take me places like to park, which isn't far away either, and on walks to the cliff top with the dog, so i didn't really spent much time with technology.

I almost wish it was still like that today...But then again, none of us would have met were it not for technology, so that's more than enough reason for me to love technology.

Hhhhmmm, could you imagine if someone decided to dump you via e-mail, that would just be wrong on too many levels.
And yes, if two people don't like each other and fight over something, not naming any names, then it would indeed break friendships.

I hate it when people don't have the decency to break up with people in person and end up doing it over the phone or via some other cowardly device...I have far too much experience in this subject.

Lol indeed, I would never sink so low as to dump someone whilst behind some cowardly device. I have been there once and was man enough to do it face to face.

Lol, I know the feeling only too well. On a slightly related note, I was speaking to one of my ex's last night and she told me I was a good kisser ( ), so that was...unexpected, to say the least.

Very unexpected. i have had trouble on that front too, not with my ex, but with this pixie who fancies me, yet i don't fancey her. I have tried to be nice, but if she carries on along that road then she is going to with she was a pixie and could just fly away.

Calm down Sawbucks, first, the Spanish, then the Pixies
Its funny because I did a quiz to see which mystical creature i would be and I ended up being a Pixie. Then i noticed i made a fatal error and re did it, now i am the grim reaper, which is more like it

I know, I know...I'm under a lot of stress at the moment and I find it helps if I declare war on races of inferior creatures...
And you must point me in the direction of this quiz. I wouldn't actually be surprised to find out that "Sawbucks" is one of the possible results...

I wouldn't worry about it, i tried the bebo one again, after getting pixie the first time, but realised I made an error and tried it again, being the grim reaper this time, but i cheated a bit on that one so now I am a Dragon. Its all very random and made up.

Do you have the link to the one on Bebo? I've tried searching for it but can't find it...

There were a couple of questions where more than one answer could apply to me, so I took it thrice and got a Mermaid, a Fairy and a Wolf. I chose the wolf.

I should do that as there were some questions that had the same dilemma with me.

I know, it says you have to tell your friends about it, but if you go straight to your profile page once you have done it then it will tell you your results on there.

For all intents and purposes, they are almost identical. Obviously there are some differences, but in the more general sense, they are the same. ie. You have a profile, you add friends, leave comments, and all that jazz...
