LOST ISLAND :: Discuss Lost Season 5 Episode 16/17- The Incident
What an great finale! It was truly amazing and had me hooked all the way through!
Firstly, lets start with Jacob! It was brilliant to finally see the guy and seeing him meet several of the Losties before the crash even happened, especially the moment where he heals Locke after falling through the window. It was also great to see more about both the Black Rock and the Statue!
The opening scene was great. I had a feeling it was going to be Jacob. And at the end when Locke reveals he is actually the guy from the beginning was great! Seeing Locke's body fall out of that crate was insane! I can't quite get over the fact he really is dead!!! And the "What About You?" line Jacob said to Ben was pure genious! I must say, I was quite shocked to see Jacob get killed! And we now know that he is responsible for Richard's lack of aging. Hopefully we'll be getting a Richard flashback featuring Jacob next year.
It was also brilliant to see Rose, Bernard and Vincent back. I must say, I did laugh out loud when I saw Bernard. But seriously, he and Rose and just legends!
Then there's the main story-line of the incident. I must say I was thrilled to see Sawyer beating Jack to a pulp as I was thoroughly opposed to Jack and Daniel's plan to alter the future and erase the events that have occured. To me it's just a real cop out. I was also disappointed and unimpressed by how Kate and Juliet both conviently decided to change their minds. It was just ridiculous.
Also, I must say that I think the group really should listen to Miles more often. When he suggested that detonating the bomb could actually be the incident (fitting with the What Happened, Happened theory) I was like "My god, he could actually be right!!!". So at that point I really was unsure over what the group should actually do.
When the bomb was thrown and it didn't go off I have to admit that I did have a sense of relief! And it was cool seeing the incident start to happen and it was also good to see how Dr Chang's hand was injured! I was also VERY shocked to see Juliet fall to her apparent death!!! And I actually believe that Sawyer is/was genuinely in love with her and it was really sad seeing his reaction to losing her.
However then we have the season 5 cliffhanger. When we saw Juliet alive I was like "Well at least she's still alive...but how the hell is it possible to survive a fall like that?!?!?!". And then when she hit the bomb and the episode ending with the screen going white I was left speechless. I personally believe, or at least I'm hoping, that the bomb hasn't actually changed the past/future, but instead there has been another flash and everyone will be returned to 2007 along with Ben, Richard, Sun, Frank and Fake-Locke.
I thought it was a great cliff-hanger and I can't wait to find out what happens when Season 6 starts!!!
It's been a great season and I've loved it all!
Look out for a mini-podcast for this episode and a LI Podcast Special where I will be reviewing Season 5 and looking ahead to the final Season.

Haha you've said more or less what I had in mind!
When we saw the beginning I had no idea that that would be jacob I thought the other (fake Locke) was jacob, we have after-all seen him before, asking for Lockes help in 'Jacobs' cabin. Given the conflict at the start of the episode between the two it could be that jacob imprisoned him in the cabin hence the ash being used as some sort of containment (like salt in supernatural) we saw a gap in the ash and what do you know the dudes now running around the island as fake locke.
we finally got an answer to 'What lies in the shadow of the statue' (all be it in latin) "Ille qui nos omnes servabit" - “He who will protect/save us all.”
I dont think the detonation will Change anything, i noticed Changs arm was hurt, which we later see in the orientations dated 1980 so production of the swan continues. I wonder what the effects of electromagnetism have on a hydrogen bomb this could after all be the real reason behind pushing the button, the biohazard suits and the medicine, its a long shot but this could also be the reason why women can't have babies. Prolonged exposure to small doses of radiation can cause stillbirth. But like i said a long shot.......
I do however think the death of Jacob will be what "resets/changes things" if tis were to happen. In the flashforwards?? each time jacob met one of the survivors he touched them, i wonder why??
