Well I have gotta say that I loved this episode! I really liked how the whole time-shifts are happening.
It was also great seeing some old faces return including Ethan and Marvin Candle/Dr. Chang.
The Dr. Chang opening was a great opening to the season. It's also great seeing Ben and Jack set their plan into motion and I can't wait to see what Sun and Charles Widmore will plan to do.
On the whole I think that this was a great opening to the season!!!

I know exactly what you mean Cherly!!! We have even more questions now and I'm thinking to myself "How on Earth are we gonna get all the answers by the end of next season?!"

I thought this episode was brilliant! Definitely worth the wait.
So many good points to this episode, I don't even know where to begin! I agree that it was good seeing our old buddies Dr Candle/Wickmund/Halliwax/Chang and Ethan back. I loved Ethan's line "That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard" when Locke told him Ben appointed him leader of the Others. Also, it was great to see the Beechcraft crashing, as it sort of "ties in" this season to past seasons, even if the storyline, and the way it's told, is totally different.
I'm also very pleased with the way the producers are tackling the whole time-travelling thing - The whole "Whatever happened, happened"/You can't go back and change anything (eg Kill Hitler) take on it is much closer to my own views/theories on what would happen if you were to travel in time than the Heroes/Back to the Future way of dealing with it, where nothing is set in stone and the past/future can be re-written in an instant.
My favourite line of the episode has to go to Richard. When he gives Locke the compass and Locke asks "What does it do?", Richard's response - "It...points North, John" - had me in stitches.

OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!! mk, so, im still on a major lost high right now. I rewatched the premere again last night & it was just as amazing the second time around.
potentially one of the best openings of anything i've seen...
btw, i have to make the comment on how great it was that Sawyer's shirt was MIA for the whole first hour =] why he was asking for Faradays shirt i will never know.
also, i love that the writers are making the rules of time travel clear from the beginning. i think thats a really key part of successfully incorporating it so im very happy to see that they're doing it.

definately one of the top quotes of the episode.
oh, & on the topic of the compass, i think that its related to when Richard went to see little Locke. Locke was supposed to pick the compass not the knife...still trying to make sense of how it would make sense but that was my first instinct when he told him that he would have to give him the compass.

Haha, I imagine pretty much the entire female community was delighted with the lack of Sawyer's shirt. It's a pity us guys didn't get a similar treat. Oh well, season 1 had a couple of Kate/Shannon/Sun bikini moments, looks like I'll just have to rewatch those episodes...

Couldn't agree more there Sawbucks!!!
I too am also glad to see that the writers have made the rules of time-travel clear early on, and like Sawbucks said, I think the way its dealt with is done much better than it is on Heroes.
Also, interesting point about the compass Tris! I never made the connection.
I'm also curious to know why Dan was down in the Orchid with Chang. Was this before the island moved (Had he been to the island before) or was it after it had moved. I'm confused on that one!

Well I think Charlotte definitely has (hence the nosebleed and headach), afterall she did say she was looking for home. Though could she have really defied the odds and been born on the island?!
And as for Farraday, I think you're right Tris. It's the only way to explain him being at the Orchid in the past. Was he a member of the Dharma initiative perhaps?

Lol, were you not paying attention during the first two episodes, Ben? Had the scene with Daniel and Pierre in the Orchid been shown at the start of last season, before any island-moving antics, then I would agree that the only logical answer would be that Daniel was a member of the Dharma Initiative. But now that the island is jumping back and forth, we also have the possibility that at some point the island will jump to Dharma in its heyday, and Daniel dons a spare Dharma outfit and heads to the Orchid to try and find out more about what the heck is going on. Especially since Daniel didn't look any younger at the Orchid than he does nowadays despite it being roughly a 30 year gap, I'd say that him being there thanks to time-travelling is far more likely than him being a Dharma miner...

Well, there is that option too, I guess. But since we don't know how exactly Richard manages to fight the aging process, I didn't want to go throwing other characters in the same boat as him.
