That was great, blitz! But personally, and PLEASE don't take this the wrong way, I liked your other ones better. I dunno what it was about them, but I just liked that style of writing. I know it's early days with this new one, and I'm sure I would love it more and more as I read on, but I think it just seems a shame that you stopped the other one when it was going so well. You have no idea how much I looked forward to reading the next episode of it, and, while I'm sure the same would apply if you decide to continue with this one, I know I'll miss having that to look forward to. I don't expect you to make a decision because of what I think, but I thought I'd better let you know where I stand with the situation!

I think they're both really good!
I'm looking forward to "Abandonned" in your other series! And I'm sure the next installment of this will be awesome!

As you will notice from the episode I have reosted them to get rid of those weird symbols, I have also changed them slightly but its nothingyou havent red before.
The Pilot part 1 2 of 2
Greg continues walking down the beach until he see’s Arzt, Scott and Steve talking about something.
“Hey guys, what ya talking about?” Greg asks,
“We were just discussing what that thing is, in the jungle,” Arzt answers,
“Ow ok, well see ya,” Greg says not wanting to be stuck in a conversation about what they think the thing is. Greg continues down the beach and spots a man and two women. The man had short, scruffy hair and looked like he was arguing with one of the women who Greg had seen before, the blonde women. The other women had long brown, flowing hair and a fairly nice tan. She was wearing a red bikini whilst the blonde haired women wore a light blue bikini.
“Hey, I am Greg,” Greg said as he approached the trio.
“Do I look like I care?” The blonde haired women said not even bothering with looking up at him.
“Don’t listen to her, she is just hungry,” the man said,
“Yeah because you ate my chocolate bar!” the women shouts,
“You said you didn’t want it,” The man says,
“No I said I was going to eat it on the rescue boat!” The blonde women snapped again.
“Ah so you are assuming that we are going to get rescued before we all turn into size zeros,” Greg said sarcastically,
“Of course we do, why is there a reason why we shouldn’t?” The brown hair woman asks, her accent was English.
“No, I just don’t think its wise to assume that rescue will come,” Greg said looking at the brown haired women, trying to think of something else except how hot she looked in that bikini.
“Anyway I am Boone, and this is Rachel, and Shannon, my sister,” the man said pointing to the brunette first who he said was called Rachel and then the blonde called Shannon.
“Half-sister, Jackass,” Shannon said turning around to face Boone when she said it,
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, princess” Boone said. Greg felt a bit uncomfortable and decided to change the subject, and fast.
“So…….What do you guys think that thing is?” Greg asks,
“Thing?” Rachel asks,
“Yeah the thing that was making all of that noise last night,” Greg said,
“It’s probably just that kid’s dog, Rex or something.” Shannon said, not really caring,
“The dogs name is Vincent,” Rachel said looking over at Shannon,
“Whatever, it’s a dog,” Shannon said
“Speaking of that monster you know Jack, the doctor?” Boone asks,
“Yeah I know him,” Greg says listening intently,
“Well he wants to go off into the jungle to see if he can find the Cockpit, pretty stupid idea with that thing out there, right?” Boone asks,
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, anyway do you guys know where Jack is?” Greg asks,
“I think I saw him by the fire, why?” Rachel said sitting up,
“I am going to take him up on his offer,” Greg said jumping up and racing down the beach.
Greg spots Jack heading into the jungle with two other people. One female and another male.
“Hey, Hey!” Greg said waving his arms and racing towards them. The group stop and turn around to Greg.
“What is it?” Jack asks. Greg breaths heavily, trying to get his breath back and then says.
“I am coming too,”
“What?!” the women says surprised
“We don’t need any more people,” Jack says turning round to head back into the jungle.
“Ow trust me you will want me to come with you,” Greg says,
“And why is that?” The women asks,
“Because I am the only one on the island with one of these,” Greg said pulling out his gun. The three stare at the black gun with both shocked and surprised looks on their faces.
“What are you doing with a gun?” The women asks,
“Because…..I am a cop,” Greg says pulling out his police badge. Kate steps back in shock as she looks at the badge. The blonde haired man turns to Jack and says,
“Well my father always told me never to trust a man with a gun but as long as he has a police badge then he can be trusted to the moon and back,”
“I agree with Charlie, sort of. We could do with someone who has and knows how to fire a gun. After all, whatever that thing is, it can be killed, right?” Jack says looking around. The group looked at each other, not knowing the answer and didn’t want to be the only ones who didn’t. Eventually Jack sighed and said, “How many bullets do you have for it?”
“3,” Greg said very simply,
“Is that three cartridges or three boxes?” The women asks,
“Nether, its three bullets,” Greg answers
“What?!” The women shouts shocked that they only had three bullets.
“Well at least we have something. It won’t take more than three bullets to kill that thing surely,” Jack says trying to be positive,
“And if it does?” The man jack called Charlie asks,
“We shall deal with that obstacle when we get to it,” Jack says and the group head off into the jungle.
The Group walked through the jungle, talking about themselves.
“So this is Charlie and Kate,” Greg said trying to remember their names.
“That’s right,” Jack said
“So, you know our names but I have no idea what yours is,” Kate asks Greg
“Yeah so it’s only fair…..” Charlie starts,
“The names Greg,” Greg says interrupting Charlie.
“So where are you from Greg, your accent isn’t American, it’s English right?” Jack asks,
“Yes I was originally from England,” Greg says,
“Great I am glad I am not the only one on this island,” Charlie says suddenly feeling a lot happier.
“Wait, you said you were originally from England. Does that mean you don’t live their any more?” Kate asks,
“No I don’t, I moved to Scotland when I as 18 and then to Australia 8 years later,” Greg says sadly,
“So what made you move there then?” Kate asks seeming very interested in Greg.
“Better Job, more money, a new life. The usual stuff” Greg says trying to get off the topic as fast as possible. “So now you know a bit about me I want to know more about you. So, who is going to go first,” Greg says looking at Kate, expecting her to be the first one.
“As you know I am Charlie, But what you may not know is I am in a band,” Charlie says smiling smugly
“I thought I had seen you somewhere but I still cant remember where,” Kate says
“Yeah, I think I know.” Charlie answers
“You do?” Kate asks quite excited at finding out but also quit shocked that Charlie remembers and she doesn’t. Charlie clears his throat and sings in a high pitched voice,
“You all, everybody, you all, everybody”
“Hey I know that Song, That’s from Driveshaft isn’t it?” Greg asks now realizing he has seen Charlie before as well.
“You know Driveshaft?” Kate asks,
“Yeah, they were awesome, but why did you sing it Charlie?” Greg asks,
“That’s us! That’s Driveshaft! Look I have proof, look, the ring. Second tour of Finland.” Charlie says showing Greg and Kate the ring,
“You were in Driveshaft?” Kate asks,
“I am In Driveshaft, I play Bass,” Charlie says,
“I thought they split up? Some sort of Drugs problem or something like that?” Greg asks,
“All lies, we’re still together. We’re in the middle of a comeback actually,” Charlie says feeling a bit embarrassed that people would think such a thing.
“WOW, I can’t believe it is you. My friend Beth would freak. She loves…” Kate starts
“Give me Beth’s number. I’ll call. I’d love to. Does she live nearby?” Charlie says obviously joking since they were stranded, or at least Greg thought he was Joking.
“You ever heard of Driveshaft?” Kate says turning to Jack. Charlie starts to sing,
“You all, everybody, you all, every……” Charlie starts but Jack shakes his head “…body” Charlie finishes.
“Ok, Thank you Charlie now who wants to go next?” Greg asks, Jack begins to tell his story but Greg cuts him off and says,
“Kate, lets here about you,” Kate, who was looking away from Greg in her own little world, is thrown back into reality and says,
“Sorry what did you say?”
“I said what’s your story?” Greg says slightly firmer than before.
“You don’t want to hear mine, it’s really boring, and besides I am sure Jack would rather share his….” Kate says,
“That maybe but I think I have seen you before too, only I can’t quite put my finger on it. Care to refresh my memory?” Greg asks,
“Ok that’s enough, I think we know enough about each other, let’s just keep on moving ok,” Jack says, taking command and moving on, Kate rushes after him. Charlie walks next to Greg and says,
“I think she likes me,” And walks after them with a smug grin on his face. Greg drops all hope of remembering where he has seen Kate and follows them, being slightly more cautious of his surroundings than the rest.
After walking about an hour or two more it starts to get dark.
“You guys, is this normal? This kind of day turning into night. The-end-of-the-world type weather. Guys?” Charlie asks but no one was listening,
“Sorry Charlie but I am busy trying to watch out for that monster to be thinking about the weather,” Greg said not loosing concentration on his surroundings.
As the Group walk on they walk through some trees and arrive in a clearing. As the group look around they don’t see anything but when they return there eyes forward they see a spine chilling sight, the cockpit. The Cockpit had crashed into a tree and was now at a 45 degree angle with the forest floor. There is a large tree holding the cockpit up at the 45 degree angle.
“Well, let’s do this,” Jack says walking towards the plane, shortly followed by Kate.
“Yeah, let’s get this Trans…..” Charlie starts but pauses at the word transceiver,
“Transceiver,” Jack says turning around to Charlie.
“Transceiver thing and get out of here,” Charlie corrects himself. As he too follows Kate but Greg doesn’t follow him.
“What are you waiting for?” Charlie asks turning around to Greg after noticing he wasn’t following.
“I am not going up there,” Greg says nodding towards the cockpit.
“Why because your afraid of heights?” Charlie says jokingly.
“No because someone has to stay down here just incase that thing comes to finish off the survivors of the cockpit. And since I am the only one with a gun then I think it should be me staying down here. Unless of course you are volunteering to stay down here, unarmed against whatever that thing is?” Greg asks sarcastically,
“No thanks, well good luck. Ow and try not to get eaten,” Charlie said before continuing to the cockpit. Greg smiles at Charlie’s comment and leans against a tree and waits.
In a flashback Greg is in the airport bar, drinking a pint of cider and reading a text message on his phone.
“Someone must really like you,” A man said from the bar stool behind Greg. Greg quickly hid the message and had a drink from his pint.
“Its nothing,” Greg says putting the phone back in his pocket.
“Really?! Well she obviously thinks different,” The man says,
“Not that it’s any of your business but it is over between me and her, so just back off will you!” Greg shouts turning to the man.
“Sorry mate, I didn’t know,” The man says standing up.
“No, wait, look I am sorry, things have just been a bit messed up lately.” Greg says stopping the man.
“No I am sorry, I shouldn’t have been so nosey in the first place.” The man says continuing to walk away.
“It didn’t end well between me and her. I though I had gotten over it but here I am, reading her text message and wishing that I was back in Glasgow with her in my arms and everything that happened that led up to it was erased and me and her could start over. But I don’t think I can. Not after what she did.” Greg says before taking another big gulp of his cider.
“You’re from Scotland?!” The man shouts Greg only now realizing that his accent was Scottish.
“Aye, I am but I was originally from England. I moved there when I was 18.”
“Well here’s some advice for you. Sometimes you have to let things go, forgive and forget. It might not be easy, but it is the best way to do it.” The man said turning his back to Greg,
“Thanks mate,” Greg says,
“My name isn’t mate, its Chris, Chris Murray,” The man said before disappearing from Greg’s view before Greg could say anything back.
Back on the Island Greg woke up to the Thunderous sounds of the monster which were very close.
“Sh*t!” Greg cursed as he rushed towards the cockpit. “I hate to hurry you guys but we have a huge problem!” Greg shouts but was interrupted by crashing of trees and the thunderous roars. Greg slowly turned around to see the trees behind him being ripped out from the ground. Greg turns to the cockpit again and shouts,
“Get out of there NOW!” but then stops as everything goes silent. Greg turns back to where the trees were being uprooted but there was nothing their.
“I don’t like this,” Greg says as the eerie silence continues. Suddenly there is a blood curdling scream from the cockpit. As Greg turns back to the cockpit he can see a huge cloud of black smoke ripping the pilot out of the cockpit and tearing his body into pieces. Greg watches in horror as blood splats everywhere and the monster roars several more times before disposing of the mutilated body of the pilot.
Greg holds his gun up and points it at the monster. His hands were shaking from the event but the smoke monster was a big enough target. Greg shot all three bullets into the monster but the bullets seemed to just go straight through the smoke. Greg’s heart sank as the bullets ricochet off the trees behind the monster and then the worst happened.

Very intense and exciting! I like how you use the original lines from the episode, but manage to fit Greg's lines into the conversations as well! Nice work!!!

Thanks Sawbucks. It is going to be more like this throughout all of my episodes. Although the charicter will have a slightly the same personality but a whole diofferent story line so dont asume that you will be expecting the same from Greg this time around.

Fair enough! 1/8 is 'cos of your character, 5/8 is because of the conversations from the original episodes that I manage to squeeze in, 1/8 is for spelling and grammar, and the final 1/8 is purely a sympathy vote from you lot...

The Pilot part 2
Greg watched on in horror as his simple plan backfired and the only thing that came out of shooting the Black cloud was that he had no more bullets left and he had caught some unwanted attention from the Smoke.
“Ow hell,†Greg said as he tried to run but his legs were stiff. As Greg tried to regain control over his legs his life flashed briefly before his eyes. The lives he had ruined, the people he had hurt, everything that he had done to get to where he was now had come back in flashes.
Suddenly Greg could feel his legs again and he could move them. Without haste he turned his back to the monster and ran towards the jungle, all the while he could here the monstrous roars of the monster as it gave chase. Greg didn’t look back once, he just ran and ran. Suddenly everything went quiet. Greg slowed down and looked behind him to see no more trees were being ripped out. Greg then stopped and took nice deep breaths as he thought it was over, but he was wrong. A few seconds later there was a thud, then another thud. The sound got quicker and quicker until Greg was forced to look in the direction he had been running, and the sight was not one he wanted to see. The trees were being uprooted in his direction again but this time they were coming from the direction he had been running.
“Damn!†Greg shouts and he starts to run in the opposite direction, back towards the cockpit.
As Greg arrived back at the Cockpit it was quiet again and Jack was there. He was walking in the direction Greg had just been.
“Not this way Jack,†Greg said, at first Jack seemed confused at what Greg meant but he soon realised what he meant as the roaring of the monster blared from behind Greg.
“Run Jack!†Greg shouts and pushes Jack in the direction furthest away from the hideous sounds.
Greg and Jack had been running aimlessly through the Jungle for a few minutes before they sopped to take a rest.
“I don’t think its following us anymore,†Greg said panting like a dog.
“So, what was it?†Jack asks very directly,
“What do you mean?†Greg asks back still a bit shaken.
“Ow come on, you saw it, it chased you I saw it chase you away so you must know what it is,†Jack says, There was an awkward silence between Jack and Greg an then Greg said,
“Ok I did see what it was but I am not sure I believe what I saw,†Greg said standing up straight and started to walk.
“Wait, where are you going?†Jack asks standing up as well,
“To find Charlie and Kate, they are still out there,†Greg said turning to Jack.
Suddenly the bushes rustle behind Greg. Greg turns around to face them, and pulls out his gun even though it did have any ammunition in it. Suddenly Charlie comes bursting through the bushes and finds himself with a gun to his head.
“Wow, what are you doing?! It’s me, Charlie!†Charlie shouts scare that he might get shot by one of his own.
“What the bloody hell are you doing sneaking through the bushes like that? I could have Sh*t you if I had any bullets left!†Greg shouts lowering his gun.
“Look can we just calm down, we still have to find Kate,†Jack says.
“What you mean she isn’t with you?†Charlie asks,
“Does it look like she is here?†Greg asks still annoyed with Charlie. Charlie looks at the floor and grunts.
“Right then lets go find Kate,†Greg said disappearing through the trees, shortly followed by Jack and Charlie who dragged his heals after them.
They eventually heard someone shouting what sounded like.
“Jack, Jack!â€
So the group follow the shouts and sure enough come to Kate who seemed petrified. She was counting to ten.
“Learning to count, that’s the last thing I would do if I was being chased by a monster,†Greg said, scaring the life out of Kate, who jumped around and saw him,
“What the hell are you doing sneaking up on me like that?!†Kate shouts punching Greg in the shoulder.
“Alright. Next time I don’t think I will bother to save your sweet ass,†Greg said grabbing her arm and dragging her into the jungle,
“Wait where are Charlie and Jack?†Kate asks looking around frantically,
“Here,†Greg says throwing her forward to Jack and Charlie.
“Jack, you’re alive!†Kate shouts with joy. Greg coughs as a signal that he risked his life too but Kate ignored him,
“Bloody charming, I shoot at that thing and lead it away so you guys can get out of the cockpit without being ripped to shreds and I don’t get a thanks or nothing,†Greg says,
“Thank you for leading the monster away so that I didn’t get ripped to shreds,†Charlie says giving a grin,
“Now that might of actually meant something if you hadn’t just repeated what I said. Well that fine, next time that black cloud thing decides to have lunch I will just point it in your directions shall I,†Greg says storming off in the direction he thought would lead them back to camp.
“A black cloud? Seriously if you are going to make up what the monster is at least pick something more feasible,†Kate says,
“Ow that’s right I forgot everyone shoots with there eyes closed now. What I saw was a black cloud and if you don’t believe me then that’s tough because I didn’t see anyone else shooting bullets into it or having it chase after them.†Greg says turning around.
“Lets just stop this and get back to the beach, ok?†Jack says,
“Fine by me, I just hope you can defend yourselves against that thing, because I am not going to help you next time,†Greg says leading then through some trees.
On the way back they tried the transceiver to see if it would work.
“Anything?†Charlie asks
“You keep asking if there’s anything.†Jack says getting annoyed with Charlie,
“Pardon me for appearing desperate, but before the pilot was ripped from the cockpit, he did say that no one’s gonna find us unless we get that transceiver working. So…is there anything?†Charlie says in his defense.
“No.†Jack answers
“Okay.†Charlie says
“What were you doing in the bathroom?†Kate asks Charlie
“I thought it was obvious Kate,†Greg joked
“Thought you could tell. I was getting sick, puking. My one tangible contribution to the trek.†Charlie said
“No, I’m glad you came, Charlie.†Kate said
“Yes I am glad you came too Charlie.†Greg said sarcastically mimicking Kate
“Every trek needs a coward.†Charlie said,
“That it does Charlie my boy, it also needs someone with courage with no bounds and a gun, especially when there is a monster in the Jungle you decide to take a walk in,†Greg said
“Too bad we haven’t got one of them with us now,†Kate joked,
“Ow ha, ha, ha. Lets all laughs our blooming heads of before they are ripped off by the monster,†Greg snorted,
“So anyway you’re not a coward Charlie,†Kate says, Charlie stops walking and signs,
“Hey little red, come on before the big bad monster gets you,†Greg says to Charlie who quickly follows.
As the group appear from the jungle they spot a bit of commotion down at the beach. An Arabian man and a rough looking American were fighting.
“What the hell is going on down there?†Kate asks,
“I don’t know but I had better but in before the Arabian kills that American,†Greg says rushing towards them. He picks to take out the American so he ran straight for him and tackled him to the ground.
“Hey get off me!†The American shouts,
“Do I know you?†Greg says looking at the American who was struggling to get free. He punches Greg in the face which he wasn’t too happy about. Greg pulls him up onto his feet and knees the American in the Stomach,
“Son of a b**ch!†The American shouts in a southern accent.
“Well, well, I never thought I would see you again, James. Still can’t keep out of trouble can you,†Greg says,
“It Sawyer and don’t you be forgettin’ it,†Sawyer said elbowing Greg in the stomach and running for the Arabian man, picking up some sand as he did. Then he threw the sand in his face. Then he jumped on the Arabian man.
“Hey guys, come on. Hey!†Michael says trying to break it up by grabbing the Arabian and pulling him away
“Hey! Break it up! Break it up! Get off!†Jack shouts grabbing Sawyer and dragging him off,
“Hey, come on, break it…†Michael says dragging the Arabian man away from Sawyer
“I’m sick of this redneck!†The Arabian shouts,
“Want some more of me, boy?†Sawyer shouts back,
“Tell everyone what you told me! Tell them I crashed the plane, tell them I made the plane crash!†The Arabian shouts
“The shoe fits, buddy!†Sawyer answers
“What is going on?†Jack asks but only gets an answer from the Arabian who speaks in a different language,
“Everyone just calm the f**k down! Now answer him Jack in English, this time,†Greg says to the Arabian, who doesn’t speak,
“Look, my kid found these in the jungle.†Michael says pulling out some handcuffs
“Well there not mine, not saying I am a criminal, I am actually a cop but I have mine here. And I am not afraid to use them on you Sawyer,†Greg says.
“What, why me? This guy was sitting in the back of business class the whole flight. Never got up. Hands folded underneath the blanket. And for some reason, just pointing this out, the guy I saw next to him didn’t make it,†sawyer explains
“Thank you so much for monitoring my behavior,†The Arabian says sarcastically,
“You don’t think I saw them pull you out of line before we boarded?†Sawyer says trying to pull away from Jacks grip, “Come on, bring it!†Sawyer shouts,
“Your one to talk Sawyer, we didn’t send a Marshal onboard the plane with you because we thought you could behave,†Greg explains,
“So there his!†The Arabian said also trying to get free,
“I didn’t say that, no they are not his. We need to think here, if they aren’t yours and they aren’t Sawyers then there is still a dangerous criminal on the island,†Greg said,
“Look can we just forget about it and calm down? We found the transceiver, but it’s not working. Can anybody help?†Kate asks wanting to get off the subject as quick as possible.
“Yes, I might be able to,†The Arabian man said,
“Great! Perfect. Let’s trust this guy†Sawyer says, not liking the idea one bit
“This Guy has a name, I just don’t know what it is,†Greg said looking at the Arabian man for answers,
“My name is Sayid Jarrah,†Sayid answers,
“Which is more reason why we shouldn’t trust him,†Sawyer says,
“Hey, we’re all in this together, man. Let’s treat each other with a little respe…†A Large man named Hurley says,
“Shut up, lardo!†Sawyer interrupts,
“My, it seems like old sawyer here has lost his respect,†Greg says
“Who asked you, Sheriff Nottingham?!†Sawyer shouts,
“Luckily there is a way to rekindle peoples respect in me,†Greg said and before Sawyer could answer Greg threw a huge punch into Sawyer left cheek, sending him stumbling back and falling onto his back on the sand.
“Hey can we just calm down!†Jack shouts,
“I don’t know how you Americans get scum like this trash to respect you but I tend to use everything in my deadly arson, fists and all,†Greg said turning around and walking back down the beach,
“Son, of a bitch!†Sawyer shouts after Greg,
“And you should calm down too, I still want answers about why you and Sayid were fighting,†Jack says,
“Whatever you say Doc, You’re the hero,†Sawyer says getting himself up and walking in the opposite direction to Greg,
“You guys found the cockpit? Any survivors?†Boone asks Jack, Jack looks at Kate and Charlie and then at Greg who overheard the question and was shaking his head from side to side.
“We found the transceiver but no survivors,†Jack says.
As Greg storms up the beach he is approached by Chris,
“Hey, I saw you take out that Sawyer guy, you have a good punch on you,†Chris says,
“I used to work out a lot……what do you want Chris?†Greg asks,
“I just wanted to know if you found anything, when you went to the cockpit.†Chris asks,
“We found the Transceiver, Sayid is trying to get it working,†Greg answers,
“Ok that’s good, were there any survivors?†Chris asks
“No, there wasn’t,†Greg says
“And did you see the monster?†Chris asks,
“Just leave it Chris, I am not it the mood!†Greg says pushing past Chris.
Greg walks down the beach, trying to clear his head. What was that thing? What did he see it do to the pilot? Why did h feel so aggressive all of a sudden? He wanted to tell people what he saw but knew that no one would start to believe him. The only person that would even thing of believing him was in LA somewhere waiting for him to come through the terminal of the LA airport, ready to greet him with open arms. Why wasn’t he there in her arms, why was he stuck on this god-for-sacken island? Just thinking about it made him so mad. Why was he being punished for something he was going to make right. Greg kicked the sand and picked up a rock and threw it into the sea.
Greg continued along the beach and saw Claire, the pregnant women sat by the sea, rubbing her stomach. Greg felt different every time he saw Claire, like she reminded him of her, of Imogene. Yet he couldn’t help but feel that she was the one to talk to about this that she would understand what Greg was going through. And even if she didn’t understand any of it, she would always give a smile that made Greg feel like she knew and that she was there for him if he ever wanted to talk.
“Hey Claire,†Greg said sitting down next to Claire,
“Ow hey, how are you, I heard you found the cockpit,†Claire said,
“We found more than that,†Greg said sounding as if he wished they hadn’t found anything else at the cockpit,
“Really?! You didn’t find that thing did you?†Claire asks almost like she had read his mind, Greg said nothing, instead started to draw something in the sand. “You did find it didn’t you, that thing we heard last night. You saw it,†Claire said almost saddened that Greg had seen such a monster. She bent down o try and look at Greg’s face to try and see if she could get an answer from his expressions.
“It was horrible Claire, that thing, it plucked the pilot straight out of the cockpit and…….and it ripping him apart, as easy as paper.†Greg sighed,
“And you saw all this?†Claire asks quite shocked,
“I saw every bit of it, from the moment it plucked him out from the last scream the pilot gave before his body was ripped to sheds and cast into a nearby tree,†Greg said going through everything that happened. There was an awkward silence after that as Claire didn’t know what to say, what could she say. Greg had just explained in great detail how the pilot died by the monster. Noone would be right after that.
“Anyway, how is the baby?†Greg asks breaking the silence,
“Ow, err…..I haven’t felt it kick since we crashed,†Claire said as she tried to get her head around what Greg had said,
“Ok, well I shall see you later then,†Greg said standing up and walking back down the beach,
“See you,†Claire said and she watched as Greg walked down the beach as if he hadn’t just told her what he saw. Claire looked down at the spot where he was sitting and saw that the picture he had drawn was of a cloud and it seemed to have a long type tendril that had hold of something like a stickman. Claire realized what it was and was scared, not only about what Greg had told her about what the monster could do, but about Greg’s mental state after seeing such a thing.

Tabula Rasa
Greg woke up and felt refreshed, he would have a lot to do today, but first he fancied a swim. As Greg stripped to his boxers he saw Rachel had also had the idea of taking a swim and was swimming wearing her pink bikini. For some reason this made Greg strip faster and before he knew what he was doing he found himself charging down the beach to the sea.
“Hey, Rachel!†Greg shouts waving to her. Rachel waves back and Greg swims towards her.
“Hi,†Greg said stuck on anything else to say.
“Hey, Ow I heard you went to get the transceiver yesterday?†Rachel asks,
“Yeah I did, but it was no picnic I can tell you,†Greg said
“What happened?†Rachel asks, Greg thought about lying but he couldn’t not to Rachel, she was so hard to lie to.
“Nothing much, I just saw the monster rip the pilot to shreds before it chased me through the jungle.†Greg answered not seeing it as a big deal, but Rachel though otherwise,
“Ow my god! Are you serious?! You saw that….that…..thing. And the pilot was alive, what did he say before…….you know what,†Rachel asks trying to avoid using Greg words.
“Something about us being off course by 1000 miles and that the rescue was looking for us in the wrong place,†Greg answers,
“No, that means that we wont get rescued,†Rachel said, Greg realised what he had just said and tries to make it seem better than it sounded,
“Now I didn’t say that Rachel, I said that the pilot said they were looking in the wrong place, it doesn’t men he is right,†Greg tries to explain but Rachel just seemed to get worse and started to cry.
“Were never going to get off this island are we, were going to die here,†Rachel sobbed finding it hard to keep herself afloat because she was so upset. Greg swam closer to her and hugged her in an attempt to keep her afloat but also to comfort her,
“Now you listen to me Rachel, I won’t let you die, not here, we are in it together. Us Brits have to look after each other right?†Greg says, Rachel nods and rests her head on Greg’s shoulder. “Good, right, well, if you ever need to talk to me or you need me to help you building a shelter then you know where to find me,†Greg said swimming away,
“No I don’t?†Rachel says, Greg sighs and swims back to her, get behind her and points to the spot where Greg had put some stuff he had found and the spot where he had been sleeping,
“Right there,â€
“Ow ok, thanks,†Rachel says smiling,
“Ok well I had better go and start construction on a shelter,†Greg says,
“Wait, can we swim back to shore together?†Rachel asks,
“Sure here, grab my hand,†Greg says and Rachel holds Greg’s hand as they swim back to the beach.
Once Greg had got dressed he was feeling rather hungry so decided to talk to the Korean who was the island’s fisherman. He noticed that Chris was already there, talking to the Korean man, well it was more like arguing.
“Look man I don’t want your fish I want….to….LEARN…how to fish! Can…..you…teach….me…..how?†Chris asks but the Korean man just held out the fish,
“Hey Chris, I see you are lost in translation,†Greg says chuckling,
“Ow ha, ha, ha, but if you haven’t noticed I am trying to survive,†Chris says turning back to the Korean man,
“There are other ways of getting food on this island you know Chris,†Greg says,
“Like how?†Chris asks
“Come,†Greg says grabbing Chris’s arm and dragging him up the beach.
“Hey I can walk for myself, but first I need to know where we are going?†Chris asks,
“For a walk,†Greg says before letting go of Chris’s arm and walking into the jungle. Chris sighs and follows.
After walking for a mile Greg stops and leans against a tree.
“Here we are,†Greg says, Chris looks around at the many trees but sees nothing,
“What this is it? I don’t know if you have realised it yet but I am not the bark eating kind of guy,†Chris says,
“And you think I am? Look closer Chris, you will find out soon enough,†Greg says,
“If you are just going to speak in riddles and take me on a wild goose chase then I am heading back,†Chris says turning around to head back,
“Suit yourself,†Greg says finally stepping away from the tree and walking back a few paces. The he charges at the tree and scrambles up it.
“Are you coming….†Chris says turning around and realising Greg wasn’t there, “Greg?†Chris asks but instead of getting a reply gets hit on the head with something. He looks down and sees it was a mango. He looks up into the tree and sees Greg picking Mangoes.
“So you finally decided to look more closely before you regarded something as useless,†Greg says whilst he sat on a branch.
“Wow, that’s a lot of fruit,†Chris says smiling,
“Indeed it is. Now get over here and catch some fruit, I can’t do this by myself you know,†Greg says, Chris’s smile widens and he rushes over to the tree to catch the fruit.
“So how did you know there was fruit here?†Chris asks as he catches mangoes in his T-shirt.
“Yesterday as me, Kate, Jack and Charlie were coming back I stood on one of he rotten ones that had fallen out of the tree. I then looked up and I saw the trees around here were full of fruit.†Greg explains
“Ok, well this journey wasn’t such a waste after all.†Chris says,
“Well once you look at things from a different angle you find a lot more than you could ever have imagined. Most people like you don’t bother looking and as a result miss out on all the best stuff,†Greg says
“Ok but I have a question,†Chris says,
“Shoot,†Greg says back,
“What do you mean people like me,†Chris says scowling at Greg. Greg laughs and says,
“Come on, I think we have enough, lets head back,†and they pack the fruit in a rucksack Greg brought along and headed back to the beach.
As they headed back to the beach Greg and Chris got talking, something they hadn’t done since yesterday evening. The day they crashed on the island.
“So, Greg, I heard you say you were a cop when that Sawyer guy and Sayid were fighting?†Chris asks just to get his facts straight,
“That’s right, it’s more DCI than cop,†Greg explains,
“DCI, what does that stand for?†Chris asks
“Detective chief inspector,†Greg explains,
“Wow, a detective, so you like investigate murders, right?†Chris asks,
“Yes that’s right, but I spend most of my time at a desk. I have only ever investigated 3 murders. Two in Cardiff and one in Sydney,†Greg says,
“Ok, so do you carry a gun?†Chris asks,
“All the time, although I make a lot of people happy in my line of work I also piss off a hell of a lot of criminals and people just looking for a fight.†Greg says regrettably,
“Ow ok,†Chris says looking equally as sorry for asking the question as it seemed to have upset Greg.
“Anyway, enough about me, what about you, what do you do?†Greg asks. Chris pauses for a while,
“Errrrr………I use to be a footballer, back in Scotland,†Chris says hoping that would keep Greg’s mind off wanting to know what Chris did now.
“Ow cool, what team did you play for?†Greg asks,
“Ow you probably never heard of them,†Chris said almost like he was trying to make them seem worse than they were. Greg smiled and let it drop moving on to a different topic.
“So…..that Rachel lass, she is a bit of a looker ay,†Greg says,
“A looker?†Chris asks
“Yeah, you know, easy on the eyes, someone you just have to stare at as they walk past,†Greg says,
“Ow, errrrr….yeah I suppose,†Chris says not seeming interested,
“I suppose? Dude I don’t know what you see but I see a whole lot of woo hoo,†Greg says but Chris just smiled and shook his head.
When they returned back to the beach, Greg sent Chris off with half the fruit and Greg took the rest. He didn’t know where to put it s he decided to give it out and get some more once he had built a shelter. Greg walked over to Claire and the guy called Charlie who was helping Claire with her bags,
“Well, well, looks like you have a new friend Claire,†Greg says looking at Charlie
“Yeah, Charlie’s been a lot of help, he is a great guy,†Claire said looking at Charlie too,
“Well good, I am glad to here it. Ow I brought you some fruit,†Greg said handing over a couple of mangos.
“Ow isn’t that sweet, Thank you,†Claire said taking a mango,
“Yeah cheers mate,†Charlie said with a smile.
“No problem, if you need anything else just give me a shout,†Greg said,
“Or she could just come to me,†Charlie interrupted,
“Yes she can, unless it involves going into the jungle,†Greg says with a smile and walks off, leaving a pretty annoyed Charlie and a confused yet happy Claire.
Greg was heading back to his spot where he planned to build his hut later that day when he saw Rachel standing by it, obviously waiting for him.
“Hey there Rachel, what brings you……†Greg started but was cut off by a stinging pain in his left cheek as Rachel slapped him. “What was that for?†Greg said rubbing his cheek.
“I was vulnerable, and you used me,†Rachel said annoyed with him.
“You must have gotten me mixed up with someone else,†Greg said,
“Chris told me what you told him in the jungle,†Rachel said,
“I thought that would be more of a compliment than a reason to slap me,†Greg said,
“What? Telling him that we made out when swimming this morning, Ha, not much of a compliment on my half,†Rachel said. Greg took a long pause just to get what was said straight then said,
“Wow, hold it, I never said that.â€
“Lair!†Rachel screams,
“Its true, I swear I didn’t,†Greg says slightly worried about his own safety at this stage rather than being right.
“Look Chris told me, he is a good man. I don’t want to see you ever again, once I get off this island I am going to get as far away as possible from you,†Rachel said storming down the beach. Greg was shocked, he couldn’t say anything. Even if he could what could he say. He saw Rachel walk over to Chris who put his arm around her and walked away from Greg, turning around and giving him a wink and a thumbs up before he left. Greg couldn’t believe it; Chris had just played him like a fool. Greg Laughed aloud and said,
“If you want to play that game Chris, then I am going to show you how I play,†Then walked down the beach to find Jack to give him some fruit.
Greg found Jack by the medical tent looking after the guy with the shrapnel in his side.
“Hey Jack, thought you could do with something to eat what with not having the time to go to the super market,†Greg joked. Jack chuckled and took the mango,
“Thanks,†He said before returning t the stash of medical supplies.
“So, this guy, do you know anything about him?†Greg asks,
“Well I found his wallet. According to that he is an Edward Mars. Other than that I know as much as you do,†Jack says. Greg froze as the name sounded familiar.
“Edward mars you say?†Greg asks trying to get his head around it,
“Yeah, why, do you know him?†Jack asks,
“Yeah we met a few weeks ago in Sydney,†Greg says looking behind Jack at the tent.
“Well you should talk to him. It would be good if he heard a familiar voice,†Jack said,
“I would hardly call myself a familiar voice but I have something’s I want to ask him,†Greg said walking into the tent to see Edward Mars with a huge piece of shrapnel in his side.
“Afternoon Marsie,†Greg said cheerfully. Edward tilted his head so that he could see who it was.
“Do I know you?†He croaked,
“It’s me, Greg Young,†Greg said trying to refresh Edward's memory but Edward just shrugged. “I can’t believe you have forgotten me already.†Greg said remembering the time he and Edward mars met.
In a flashback Greg was at the reception, chatting up the receptionist when Edward mars walked into the station carrying a lot of paper.
“Can I help you sir?†The receptionist said pushing Greg aside to get a look at Edward.
“Yes I would like to talk to the man in charge,†Edward said, his American accent standing out over the Australian one of the receptionist.
“That would be me, I am Greg Young†Greg said putting out his hand for Edward to shake.
“Are you serious, this guy is in charge,†Edward said to the receptionist pointing to Greg.
“Ok I am not ‘The man in charge’ but I am the closest you are going to get to them so I would pay me a little respect, mate†Greg said quite annoyed at Edward.
“Anyway, I was wondering if you have seen this woman,†He said handing Greg and the receptionist a photo of Kate.
“Nope but she’s hot, is she your daughter,†Greg joked, it being obvious that she wasn’t.
“And you wonder why I didn’t pay you much respect,†Edward said smiling a little.
“Well I haven’t seen her; can I ask what it is she did?†Greg asks,
“No, all you need to know is that she is dangerous and that you will need a lot of armed backup if you ever find her before I do,†Edward said handing them the wanted posters and walking towards the door.
“I think I can handle one American chick mate, so you just leave the job to us!†Greg shouts to Edward as he leaves,
“Fine, but I hope she shoots you before you catch her, just to prove that I was right,†Edward says before walking out of the doors.
Back at the beach Greg had finished explaining to Edward about where he had seen him.
“So, she didn’t shoot you,†Edward says,
“No she didn’t, but it looks like you got to her first,†Greg says back,
“It’s because I was better at my job than you are,†Edward chuckles, Greg smiles back and says,
“You are really lucky you have a huge piece of shrapnel sticking out of your side. Otherwise I would take offence by that. It’s a good job I don’t take offence from dieing men,†Greg chuckled, Edward Mars’s smile faded as reality hit him,
“Is that what I am now, a dieing man?†He asks slightly upset,
“Look, Jack can tell you he can perform miracles and save you, but the fact is it is very unlikely,†Greg answers feeling a bit stupid for saying it now,
“Thank you,†Edward says,
“For what?†Greg asks,
“For not saying I will pull through and everything will be ok when clearly I am dieing,†Edward explains.
“Well, us cops stick together ay,†Greg says putting out his hand to Edward,
“Indeed we do, mate†Edward says shaking the hand and smiling. Greg smiles back then lets go of the hand and stands up.
“I’ll see you in another life brother,†Greg says,
“I intend on doing so,†Edward says a Greg walks out. Greg wipes a tear from his eye as he got slightly emotional about having to say good bye. An almost stranger as he was he was still a good man and he almost felt the urge to keep a closer eye on Kate as she is likely to do something stupid.
To keep his mind off Kate and Edward Greg decided that he should build himself a shelter, after all, if help would be a long time away he might as well get comfortable if that was possible on an island. Greg searched the fuselage for good building scrap and anything else he could use. He found a big blue tarp and four pieces of shrapnel that would make good walls for his shelter. He then chopped a few bamboo trees down and into smaller sticks so that he could use them to build his shelter.
Greg then got to work. He dug 3 trenches 5 or 6 inches deep in an n shape and then stuck the shrapnel into the trenches. Then he filled the trenches in and used some of the bamboo stick to hold the Shrapnel pieces up nice and strong. Next he covered the roof with the trap. He tied the tarp onto the roof and then used any remaining trap to cover the entrance and make a kind of door which he could tie to the top of his shelter. He used some cloths and rags he had found o make a nice little bed and then stepped back to admire his shelter.
By the time he had finished it was night and there were many fire’s lit. Greg decided to check up on his old pal, Edward Mars to see if he was holding out. As Greg approached the tent he saw Jack and Hurley talking, then Jack rushing towards the tent but stopped when a thunderous gun shot was heard from the tent.
“Ow bugger,†Greg said rushing over to the tent where Kate walked out. Greg marched up to her and grabbed her shoulders and shook her saying,
“What did you do Kate? What did you do?†Suddenly Sawyer walks out holding the gun,
“Something you couldn’t, look, I know you are a doctor Jack, and I know you are a man of the law Greg. But the guy wanted it. Hell, He asked me to do it. I don’t like it any more than you do…..but something had to be done,†Sawyer says. Suddenly coughing is heard from the tent, not just any old coughing though, it was like someone was trying to breath. Jack, Sawyer and Greg rushed into the tent where the Marshal was coughing up blood and gasping for dear life. Jack knelt down by the Marshal and said
“You shot him in the chest?â€
“I was aiming for his heart,†Sawyer answers back,
“Yeah well, you missed,†jack says realising that there was nothing he could do for Edward. Greg watched in horror, not having said a word since they arrived inside the tent.
“Man, is he still breathing?†Hurley says from outside the tent
“You perforated his lung. It’ll take hours to bleed out.†Jack says standing up and glaring at Sawyer
“There was…I only had one bullet.†Sawyer said in panic, trying to excuse what he just did,
“Get out. Get out!†Jack shouts at Sawyer. Sawyer doesn’t say a word but just storms out of the tent. Jack walks over to Greg and put a hand on his shoulder, “I am sorry,†He says and turns back to the Marshal who is still coughing and gasping.
“Its ok, I am sure he is glad that he is dieing, even if it is in such a degrading way,†Greg says watching Edward.
“Do you want to do it or shall I?†Jack asks,
“I don’t think I could, and besides I have to talk to the worst sharp shooter in the world,†Greg says walking out of the tent, leaving Jack to finish Edward off.
As Greg walks out he spots Sawyer walking away from the tent.
“Yeah! Clint Eastwood!†Greg shouts, Sawyer stops and turns around at the comment to see Greg storming towards him, looking very annoyed.
“Look, I am sorry I didn’t kill him as quick as I should of but I only had one bullet and…..†Sawyer starts slightly scared of what Greg would do to him.
“I just wanted to congratulate you,†Greg interrupts seeming to be ok about it,
“Really?! What for?†Sawyer asks surprised by what Greg just said.
“You have just given me another reason for shooting you.†Greg said smiling and walking past him.
“Ow come on, He wanted to die, he asked me to kill him!†Sawyer shouts after Greg, Greg turns around and says,
“And I suppose that man you shot asked you to kill him too? But wait, I seem to remember you shooting the wrong man, well you shot the wrong man then, you couldn’t even kill this one. How many people have to suffer before you realize that you aren’t worthy of carrying a firearm?†Greg says. Sawyer had gotten gradually angrier with Greg and was furious now. He rushed towards Greg who had turned around to head back to his tent, grabbed his shoulder, spun him around and punched him right in the Jaw.
“Just stay out of my business will ya!†He shouts before walking past Greg who wiped the blood from his lip and smiled.
“You have just made a powerful enemy Sawyer, I would watch your step, from now on,†Greg says standing up and walking to his tent for a well earned rest.

Finally, the 12 word pages long Walkabout is finally here. WARNING, contains scenes of graphical violence and mild language. And now here is Walkabout.
Walkabout
Greg couldn’t sleep. His every thought were haunted by what he saw the day he, Kate, Charlie and Jack had trekked out to the cockpit. Worst of all no one could possibly imagine what horrors he saw as he stared at that black smoke thing. Even Kate seemed reluctant to believe that he had seen what he saw, even though all she saw was the pilot’s blood splatter on the cockpit, and hear the thunderous noises of the monster. She saw nothing, Greg saw all. Then his thoughts side tracked to another topic, Chris. How could Chris be so heartless and do such a thing as lie like that to Rachel. Greg didn’t understand why he did it but intended on getting revenge one way or another.
Greg decides to get some air and try to answer some of these questions. Suddenly he spots Vincent, Walt’s dog, rush towards the fuselage and bark widely.
“Hey, Walt, you gotta keep that dog quiet.†Michael shouts angrily at his son,
“I don’t know what’s wrong with him. Come on, Vincent. Cut that out!†Walt shouts at Vincent, trying to calm him down. The rest of the survivors come out of there tents.
“Hey, Sorry man, sorry,†Michael says to the survivors as they gather round, quiet annoyed at the dogs constant barking
“What’s he barking at?†Rachel asks
“I don’t know, what do you think Greg?†Chris says as he stands with Rachel next to Greg but Greg just ignores him and goes stands by Claire and Charlie. Suddenly there is a noise coming from the fuselage, like something was in there.
“What is it?†Kate asks
“Somebody’s in there,†Claire says,
“What makes you think it’s a somebody?†Greg says being open minded about what it could be, instead of assuming it was human.
“Everybody in there is dead,†Sayid says wisely,
“Maybe its Sawyer, the grave robber,†Greg jokes,
“Sawyer!†Jack shouts just checking it wasn’t Sawyer,
“Right behind you, Jackass,†Sawyer says. Jack didn’t need to turn around to know it was sawyer.
“Do you think it’s that thing?†Kate asks,
“No it’s not the thing,†Greg answers,
“What makes you so sure it isn’t?†Jack asks,
“Because, before it chased me through the jungle for a few minutes, I saw it rip the pilot from the cockpit and tear his body to shreds in a couple of seconds. So I think I know better than you what that thing is and if it could possible be the thing inside the fuselage,†Greg said, annoyed that he had to repeat what he saw in front of most if not all of the survivors.
“I thought you said there were no survivors of the cockpit?†women says, she was blondish and had quite an annoying voice
“Ow yeah like that is more important than this,†Greg said trying to keep the survivors mind on what was in the fuselage,
“So what is in the fuselage if it isn’t that thing?†Charlie asks,
“I don’t know, but that is something we should find out,†Greg said pulling out his knife, “Does anyone have a torch?†Greg asks,
“Dude, don’t you mean a flashlight?†Hurley asks,
“This is no time to be picky, can I just have a bloody…..flashlight,†Greg says sighing as he said flashlight.
“I am going too,†Jack says,
“Me too, maybe I can she a bit of light on the subject,†Sawyer says with a flashlight in his hands,
“I’ll come too,†Charlie says not wanting to miss out on being a hero.
“Alright then, let’s go,†Greg says, leading the way to the fuselage.
Sawyer climbs into the fuselage first, followed by Jack and Greg, Charlie stays at the entrance of the fuselage. There is grunting and snorting coming from the outline of a beast in the corner of the fuselage.
“I am going to shed some light on this thing,†Sawyer says shining his light at the beast, but Jack pulls his hand away quickly which makes the beast turn around and roars.
“RUN! GET OUT OF HERE!†Jack shouts and drags sawyer out of the fuselage with him. Greg ran out as he heard the roar and had turned around to try and catch the beast with his knife.
“I am ready for ya!†Greg shouts as Jack and Sawyer run past him. As the beast charges towards Greg he leaps for it with his knife but the beast changes direction as he did, making him miss it and land on the sand.
“Damn it!†He shouts but then sees another beast come towards him. He rolls out of the way as the beast heads through the camp, followed by another. Greg then stood up and watches as the survivors rushed for cover as the beasts ploughed through the camp, causing panic.
“For heavens sake there just pigs!†Greg shouts just as one knocks him off his feet and onto his back.
“Just pigs ey?†Chris asks laughing at Greg as he lay on the floor, trying to regain his senses. Chris then offers a hand to help Greg up but Greg refuses the hand and gets himself up. The survivors watch as the pigs rush back into the jungle.
“What the hell were they?†Charlie asks,
“Boar,†a scary looking bald man said with a scar across his right eye and a smile across his face.
“But what were they doing here?†Joanna asks,
“Here to feed more likely,†the bald man said,
“But we don’t have any food here, we have collected all of it up, there isn’t anything left,†Hurley points out,
“Who said they ate sandwiches and roast potatoes?†The bald man chuckled,
“So what were they eating?†Rachel said stepping forward.
“The bodies, they were after the bodies,†Chris said stepping forward next to Rachel. The bald man gave Chris a nod, meaning that Chris was correct.
After the crowd had disbanded Chris went to talk to the bald man to see if he could get any more information out of him. Rachel and Greg joined him.
“You seem to know a lot about your boar?†Chris asks,
“I know a lot about many things, boars are just one of them,†The bald man said,
“Ok baldy, so what do you suggest we do about them, we can’t have them coming into camp and chewing on the remains of the unlucky passengers?†Rachel said rudely,
“John,†The bald man said,
“Excuse me?†Rachel said back,
“My name is John Locke, but feel free to call me baldy if you like,†The man named John chuckled.
“Ok John, so now what do you suggest we do with the bodies?†Chris asks,
“We burn them,†Greg says from behind them. He had been standing back to see how this John guy reacted towards Chris and Rachel, seeing what make him tick and analyzing the situation and so far this John fellow sounded like a wise man.
“Burn them?†Chris says turning around with a look of disgust on his face,
“Yes Chris, burn them,†Greg repeats,
“That’s sick, they deserve better than that, cant we just burry them?†Rachel says equally as disgusted,
“Fine, get digging then and I will see you in a couple of days, because that’s how long it is going to take you sweet heart, especially without any shovels,†Greg says, making the idea seem harder than Rachel thought it would be.
“He’s right, and they won’t stay buried for ever. After all, boars are excellent diggers,†Locke says standing up.
“But still, it’s wrong; it goes against everyone’s religions and wishes!†Rachel shouts unwilling to let it lie,
“Well I don’t think being chewed on by boars is what they wished for ether, but at least my way they can die knowing that we put them first instead of ourselves. Think about it, would you rather have your body dragged through the jungle and chewed on for ever more by wild boar or would you want to know that you body could save the living by creating one hell of a distress signal?†Greg explains, Rachel glares at him but then lets it go and sighs,
“I suppose if it will get us saved sooner then it is a good idea,†Rachel says, realizing the profit in it.
“Good, now that’s out of the way I can get back to sleeping,†Greg said, knowing that he wasn’t actually sleeping in the first place.
“Wait, we still don’t know what to do about the boar,†Chris says
“We do nothing for now, tomorrow we will discus what to do about the boar,†Greg says walking back to his tent and finally getting to sleep.
The following morning, Greg finally woke up later than usual and could here arguing out side. He got up quickly and got dressed and then burst out of his tent to see a group of survivors gathered around something. Chris, Joanna and Rachel. When Greg reached the crowd he saw Hurley and Sawyer are fighting over a bag in Sawyer’s hand,
“What’s going on here?†Greg asks,
“I don’t know, I and Joanna heard the arguing from our tent and when we got here it was like this,†Chris said,
“What’s your problem? Hand ‘em over!†Hurley shouts trying to grab the bag.
“How about no!†Sawyer shouts back holding on tight to the bag.
“There are other people here! Don’t you give a crap?†Hurley asks,
“Yeah, well if one of us wouldn’t eat more than his fair share!†Sawyer answers back, not really answering the question,
“Oh, that’s bull, and you know it!†Hurley shouts angry at the comment,
“Why aren’t you stopping this?†Rachel asks Greg,
“If I had some influence in this then I would but this has nothing to do with me,†Greg says,
“But its about the food, that southerner has the food. You need the food, right?†Joanna says,
“Actually, I don’t need Sawyers stinking food, I have found an alternative source in the form of fruit. And besides, I have always hated plane food. So I think I shall stay out of this one,†Greg says staying where he is,
“A wise decision Mr. Policeman,†Sawyer says as he continues to wrestle with Hurley.
“Come on, guys. Knock it off.†The guy named Boone says,
“You’re not happy unless you’re screwing over…†Hurley says as he continues to wrestle with Sawyer,
“I’m peachy, pork pie!†Sawyer snaps,
“In fact that is the most sense I have heard out of this little tiff,†Greg chuckles,
“And what would you know sleepin-with-the-enemy?†Sawyer asks using one of his nicknames which hurt Greg bad,
“Guys, knock it off!†Boone shouts,
“Stay out of this, metro!†Sawyer shouts,
“Hey! What’s going on?†Jack shouts, rushing towards them and breaking them up. He then turns to Greg and says, “Why didn’t you stop this?â€
“Because Jackie, last time I did what I do I got the third degree from you. So I let the animals sort it out there own way,†Greg says,
“Ok so what’s going on then?†Jack says turning back to Hurley and Sawyer,â€
“Jethro here’s hoarding the last of the peanuts.†Hurley says, getting revenge on sawyer for calling him pork pie,
“My own stash. I found it in there.†Sawyer says, acting as if he was the only one on the island,
“What about the rest of the food?†Jack asks,
“There is no rest of the food, dude. We kinda…ate it all,†Hurley says with a sad expression on his face. The crowd start to talk amongst themselves as the panic spreads.
“What?†The women named Shannon says in shock
“Nothing’s left? What are you talking about?†Joanna asks,
“Okay, everybody, just calm down,†Jack says trying to calm the crowd down but fails,
“We can find food. There are plenty of things on this island we can use for sustenance. Greg, you mentioned you found some fruit?†Sayid says,
“Yeah but it’s hardly a substitute for proper food. You can’t just eat fruit all day every day,†Greg says,
“So now that blue strip has scrapped that idea how are we going to find this sustenance?†Sawyer asks. Suddenly a knife flies towards him and stabs into the chair, just missing Sawyers head. Everyone turns around to see Locke with a silver case by his feet,
“We hunt.†Locke says with a grin on his face,
“Well you cant be that good at hunting, you missed,†Greg chuckles, Chris, Rachel, Joanna, Jack and Locke chuckle with him but Sawyer just gives him an evil look, then one at Locke.
“How’d you get that knife on the plane?†Kate asks
“Checked it.†Locke answers
“You either have very good aim, or very bad aim, Mr…†Jack says passing Locke the knife back
“Locke. His name is Locke.†Chris says giving Locke a nod which he returns,
“Okay, Mr Locke, what is it that we’re hunting?†Jack asks,
“I thought it was obvious Jack. Let me narrow it down for you, it isn’t a packet of gummy bears or a chocolate bar,†Greg says, taking advantage of Jacks ignorance. Jack glared at Greg, who soon backed away as not to cause Jack any more embarrassment,
“No its not gummy bears, but boar. We know there are wild boar on the island. Razorbacks, by the look of them. The ones that came into camp last night were piglets. A hundred, 150-pounds each. Which means that there’s a mother nearby. A 250-pound rat, with scimitar-like tusks, and a surly disposition, who’d like nothing more than to eviscerate anything that comes near. A boar’s usual mode of attack is to circle round and charge from behind, so I figure it will take at least three of us to distract her long enough for me to flank one of the piglets, pin it and slit its throat.†Locke says explaining a plan before everyone could take in that there were boar on the island.
“Sounds good to me, I’m in,†Chris said stepping forward,
“Yeah count me in too, wouldn’t want anything to happen to Chris here,†Greg says
“I will…..†Rachel starts but when she realizes that Greg would be on the hunt she backs down and says, “I will stay here and start a fire for the fuselage burning,†She says, Chris looks t her, hoping that she would have come too but then sighs and turns to Joanna,
“So Joanna, you up for it?†Chris asks hoping for more company than Greg, who was the last person Chris wanted o walk through the jungle with, especially with a knife.
“No I don’t like hurting animals like that, and I could stay here and look after Rachel and help gather wood for the fuselage burning,†Joanna said trying desperately to get out of it,
“Looks like it’s just you and me Chrissie. Lets hope you don’t annoy me more than I already am with you, just incase I decide to use your balls as bait,†Greg chuckles but Chris gulps in fear.
“You wont need bate, its fairly easy to catch and kill one when there is three of us, you just pin it down and slice its neck,†Locke explains appearing from behind Greg, shocking him a little,
“And you gave him is knife back?†Sawyer says to Jack,
“Well, if you’ve got a better idea…†Jack says,
“Better than three of you wandering off into the magic forest to bag a hunk o’ ham with nothing but a little bitty hunting knife? Hell, no. It’s the best idea I ever heard.†Sawyer says sarcastically. Locke walks back over to his case and lifts the lid off with his foot, revealing a whole set of different knives, some as small as a little finger, and others as big as meat carving knives,
“Who is this guy?†Hurley says as his eyes bulge at the sight of the many knives.
“He’s our ticket to getting a decent meal, and by the looks of it is damn well bent on doing so,†Greg says smiling as he thinks of that 250 pound pig on a huge fire.
Later that morning, Greg was packing some stuff that he thought he would need like water, fruit, a sheet and his knife. He also brought his gun even though it didn’t have any bullets left, but there were some weird characters on this beach who would do anything for a gun. He slung the back pack over his shoulder and headed out of his tent where he saw Claire half jogging towards him. He ran towards her to make her job easier and said,
“You know you should take it easy, what in your condition,â€
“I have just thought of the best…..Are you going somewhere?†Claire asks completely ignoring his comment.
“Yeah I am going on the boar hunt with Locke,†Greg says,
“But I was hoping you could help me with something,†Claire says slightly disappointed,
“Sorry but everyone needs food and I am going to help Locke bring some back. Out of curiosity what is this thing you are planning?†Greg asks,
“Ow errrrr, it’s a memorial for all the people that have died, I am going to have Jack read some names out from the passports and drivers licenses and we can give them the send off they deserve,†Claire explains feeling slightly drained by Greg’s decision to go on the hunt instead of help her,
“Why don’t you read the names out?†Greg asks,
“Me?! I don’t know……†Claire says looking at the floor and feeling self-conscious of reading them out herself,
“Ow come on Claire, I can’t think of anyone better for the job, your kind, sweet and loving, even towards the dead. You should do it Claire,†Greg says,
“You really think I will be good at it?†Claire asks slightly shocked,
“I think you will be great at it,†Greg says holding Claire’s hands which were shaking as she was still shocked. He stares into her eyes and feels draw towards them. He hadn’t felt like this since he first looked into the eyes of Imogene but had forgotten the feeling until now. Then he let go of Claire’s hands and shook his head. He cleared his throat and said,
“Well….errrr….good luck with the memorial. I should be back for it so I may say a few words,†Greg says
“I will make sure I drag you out of the crowd to say your words, so don’t expect to get out of it,†Claire chuckles, Greg smiles back and walks past her to a group in the distance that had gathered for the hunt.
As Greg approaches the hunting party he sees that Locke had gathered a few more people. There was Michael there, the black man who was the father of the kid, Walt. There was also someone there who Greg wasn’t happy being there, Kate.
“What’s she doing here?†Greg says pointing to Kate who looks disgusted at Greg remark.
“Why is it a problem that she is coming?†Locke asks. Everyone stares at Greg, wondering why he didn’t want Kate to come. Eventually Greg sighs and says,
“Nope, no problem,†then gives Kate a cold glare, making her even more disgusted in him.
“Ok then lets go,†Locke says and leads the group into the jungle.
As the groups follow Locke through the jungle Kate stops and turns around to Greg who had been watching her like a hawk since the left. She decided to ask what was up so she waited for him to catch up and started to walk next to him.
“Do you have to stare at me, I know I am attractive but you don’t have to stare like that,†Kate said,
“Don’t flatter yourself sweet cheeks. I know all about your great escape,†Greg says,
“Excuse me?†Kate asks,
“Look, these guys might not know the real you Kate but I know your not what you seem. Heck I think I have always known but Mr. Mars clarified what you really did,†Greg said,
“You talked to Edward Mars?†Kate asks,
“Right before you had Sawyer kill him. Tell me Kate, that wouldn’t have had nothing to do with him telling Jack who the real you was, would it Kate?†Greg said, Kate stopped and grabbed his arm,
“I swear to you he was lieing, whatever he told you was a lie. He is just out to get me,†Kate says,
“Kate, if you don’t let go of my arm right now I swear I shall cuff you to a tree and leave you to melt under the sun ,†Greg threatens. Kate lets go and rushes forward to come back to Greg side.
“I don’t even know why I am trying to explain myself to you, you don’t even know what I did,†Kate says,
“So why don’t you enlighten me by telling me what you did?†Greg asks. There is a long pause as Kate decides whether to tell or not, “Com on Kate, it can’t be any worse than what I think you have done, can it?†Greg asks, more concerned that angry now. There is still a long pause so Greg decides an alternative solution. “Look Kate, I am not here to judge you. But If I think your dangerous….†Greg starts,
“I am not dangerous; I haven’t stabbed anyone yet have I?†Kate says a bit too loudly; Chris turns around and gives then a look,
“Keep your eyes on the road or you’ll trip and fall into something nasty,†Greg says, Chris turns back around and Greg looks back at Kate who seems amazed at how Calm Greg was. “Kate If I think you are dangerous, and then everyone needs to know but…..†Greg starts again,
“No don’t tell anyone please, they’ll hate me!†Kate shouts but this time Chris doesn’t turn around as he has learnt his lesson.
“If you would have listened to what I was saying instead of preparing your defense you would have heard me say BUT. So if you are dangerous then everyone needs to know, BUT you seem ok so for now I will let you carry on as normal,†Greg says,
“Ow thank you,†Kate says hugging Greg,
“On one condition,†Greg says pushing Kate away from him,
“Name it,†Kate says happy that Greg isn’t planning on telling anyone,
“You tell me what you did when we get back,†Greg says with a slight grin on his face, Kate’s exuberant smile faded as she hear what Greg wanted in return,
“I knew you were too good to be true,†Kate says upset and looking like she was about to cry,
“Ow come on Kate, it only one little thing. And I swear I won’t tell anyone. Besides, when a US marshal walks into Sydney police department and asks if he can talk to ‘The man in charge’ about an escaped criminal and wanting to post pictures of her all over the station then its not because they a packet of bon bon’s from the local corner shop,†Greg says smiling and walking a bit faster to catch up with the rest of the group. Kate does the same and helps Locke with his tracking of the boar.
After walking a mile Locke stops the group and turns to them,
“Ok there are two tracks. This means there are two boar. Only problem is we don’t have 2 trackers,†Locke says,
“I can track boar,†Chris says stepping forward,
“You can track boar,†Greg sniggers,
“Yes, I can track boar. I used to do some hunting back home,†Chris says,
“Great, you and Greg can go that way, I am sure you can easily catch a boar between you. I know I said it was a 3 man job but you two seem good enough to work as a pair,†Locke said,
“Great, so I guess I am stuck with you then,†Chris says to Greg,
“Relax, heck this could be interesting,†Greg said with a grin on his face that Chris didn’t feel at all comfortable with. So the Group split in two, Locke, Michael and Kate went one way whilst Chris and Greg went another way.
After walking about half a mile, Chris rushed up to a tree and rubbed his hand across the surface.
“Don’t tell me you are asking the tree to tell us where the boar went?†Greg says, Chris grabs Greg’s arm and pulls him towards the tree and pushed his head in front of some scratches on the tree, made by tusks.
“Why? Scared the tree might actually tell us where to look,†Chris says smiling at him finally getting one over on Greg. Greg snorted and stood back up.
“Ok Boar expert, so where is this over sized pig?†Greg says. Suddenly there is a rustle in the bushes to there left. “Stand back Chrissie, this pigs mine,†Greg said,
“Aren’t we supposed to work as a team?†Chris asks,
“I thought I would make things more interesting. Let’s see who the better hunter is. First one to catch the boar wins,†Greg says smiling,
“We are meant to be working together, there is no way you can catch a boar on your own, neither f us could,†Chris says,
“What’s the matter, scared that will win?†Greg chuckles
“No I am scared that one of us will get hurt but if you want to get hurt so bad then you go ahead.†Chris says sitting at the base of a tree and getting out his water.
“Ok, I’ll show you how we catch a boar in the police force, a boar being a scumbag of the streets of Cardiff and Sydney.†Greg says and he rushes into the bushes.
Greg bursts through the bushes and ends up in a clearing, with no pig in sight.
“Where are you, you little pork pie!†Greg shouts but then stops still as he hears a grunt. The grunt and roar comes closer and closer at Great speed. Greg turns around but it was too late, the boar gored him up and over like a bowling ball on a skittle. Greg lands on his back and grabs his leg,
“ARRRRRGGGHHH!†He shouts in pain as blood gushes from his shin. Chris rushes through the bushes and stands above him.
“I hate to say I told you say but….I told you so,†Chris chuckles.
“Great, so now you have had your little fun can you help me up?†Greg asks very annoyed,
“Don’t you want to do something about your leg first?†Chris says pointing to the bleeding leg. Greg grabs the sleeve of his left arm and rips it off.
“Take my left shoe off,†Greg says,
“What?†Chris says wondering why Greg wanted his shoe taking off,
“Just do it Chris! If you spent half the time doing that you did asking why then we would actually get somewhere!†Greg shouts still in pain but more angry. Chris takes the shoe off and Greg takes his sock off and then asks Chris,
“Right put the shoe back on and pass me my bag,†Greg says. Chris does straight away instead of asking questions unless he wanted to leave the jungle with a knife in his leg. Greg then took out his bottle of water from his bag and poured some on his sock and placed the sock onto the wound.
“Right now hold that in place by pushing it down with a BIT of force,†Greg said stressing the word bit. Chris did so and Greg got the sleeve and raped it over the sock and tied it up so it make a make shift bandage.
“I didn’t know you were a doctor?†Chris asks partly being sarcastic but partly interested to know how Greg knew how to cover the wound like that.
“I’m not. I did first aid as part of a course before I became a police officer in Cardiff. It has helped me and my colleagues out a lot, saved a few lives and not made me completely useless in situations like this. Now help me up,†Greg says so Chris helps Greg up.
After a painful few minutes of trying to get Greg up Chris finally manages to get him up to standing and then the reality of there trek hit Chris.
“Now how are we going to catch a boar? It would have been hard enough if there were two of us but you have just proved that trying to catch one on your own without a gun is impossible. So tell me ‘boar expert’ how do you propose I catch a boar now,†Chris complains.
“Who said you are on you own. I can still walk,†Greg says,
“Barely a hobble. How are you going to be able to chase a boar?†Chris asks,
“Who says we are going to chase the boar,†Greg says, he has a grin on his face that he only has on when he has formulated a plan or he has something evil and twisted in mind for you, Chris hoped it was neither but it would have to be one of the two.
“So what do you suggest we do?†Chris says, more curious in what Greg has planned than angry at him now. Greg reaches into his back and pulls out a white sheet.
“This is our ay of evening the odds,†Greg says smiling, Chris just stares blankly at the white sheet, wondering how the hell it would catch them dinner.
After Greg had explained to Chris what he planned to do it all seemed to make a bit of sense, however Chris was still confused,
“So your saying I wait for a boar to Charge me, as bait, and I hold the sheet next to me?†Chris asks, wanting to clarify a few things,
“Correct,†Greg says,
“So the boar charges me and I cover him with the sheet?†Chris asks again,
“Yes, that’s it,†Greg says glad he is finally getting it into Chris’s head.
“Ok but what do I do once I have covered him with it?†Chris asks totally confused about the rest.
“You don’t just cover him with it. You let him charge into it and then pin him to the floor, allowing me to come and slice it throat,†Greg explains.
“Ok, fair enough but there is just one problem,†Chris says,
“And what would that be?†Greg asks,
“This boar won’t just lay down once I cover him and let you slice its throat. He is going to want to keep moving and will drag me through the jungle faster than you can say ‘there goes the pork’†Chris says,
“That is true but I am sure you can find a way of stopping him from dragging you too far,†Greg says. Chris sighs as he realizes that he isn’t going to get out of it. He will have to stare the beast in the eyes and trust Greg’s advice, which is the one thing he dreaded the most.
Once Chris got the plan he was sent into a clearing by Greg where he would get a boor to attack him. Not the most sensible things to do but if they wanted to bring a boar home then it had to be done. Chris spotted something in the bushes. It was a large animal, no doubt a boar unless there were some other creatures on this island that they didn’t know about. Chris threw a stone at the creature which aggravated it and made it rush around the clearing in order to try and out flank Chris.
“What it Chris it’s trying to flank you on the left side!†Greg shouts to Chris who turns to his left and spots the beast charge out and rush towards him. He holds the white sheet by his side and as the boar got close enough he stepped to the side and opened out the sheet. The boar rushed straight into it and pulled it forward, pulling Chris off his feet and dragging him through the jungle. Greg struggled to keep up as his leg was in immense pain but he had to catch up with Chris. Chris couldn’t stop the boar from dragging him through the jungle like a rag doll. Chris tried to grab onto rocks with a free hand but was unable to keep his grip. Suddenly Chris felt his feet get caught in some roots, a second later there was a sharp pain in his feet but he had managed to stop the boar. Greg came limping towards him and the boar and knelt down by the boar and put his knife to its throat. Then with one swift slice the boar gave one final squeal before it stopped struggling and died.
“Good Job Chris,†Greg said,
“Yeah, thanks. Although I must admit, I didn’t think that plan would work.†Chris said rubbing his feet which were slowly becoming less painful.
“To be honest with you, neither did I,†Greg said quite surprised that it had worked,
“What?! You mean to tell me that you risked my safety on a plan you didn’t even know would work!†Chris shouts, quite angry at what Greg had just said.
“Calm down Chris we got out boar, now lets head back, no doubt Locke and the rest of the hunting party will be wondering where we are,†Greg says as Chris helps him up and they walk back to camp, Chris carrying the boar above his head, triumphantly.
As Chris and Greg walked back to camp, reenacting there capture of the boar there is a whispering sound coming from the trees,
“What was that?†Chris asks looking around to see if anyone was there
“Probably just the wind,†Greg says also looking around to check if anyone was there. The whispers soon surround them and become louder than before. Chris and Greg spin around on the spot as they try to make sense of what was happening.
“Just the wind hmm?†Chris says in a tone that resembles “I told you soâ€.
“What the f**k is going on?†Greg says panicking as the whispers continue.
“This would be a good time to run if I wasn’t carrying a 150 pound boar and your leg wasn’t bust,†Chris said panicking as he doesn’t know what to do.
“Who the f**k are you?!†Greg shouts at the whispers,
“Ow yeah like they are going to answer you!†Chris shouts as the panic begins to show in his voice,
“Well I have to do something Chris because these whispers are getting on my bloody nerves,†Greg said as he searched frantically through his bag where he found his gun and pulled it out and pointed it towards the trees. The whispers started to die down and soon as Greg pulled out his gun.
“You do know that your gun doesn’t have any bullets in?†Chris asks just making sure Greg knew,
“Yeah but they don’t,†Greg said a he finally feels calm.
“What the hell was all that?†Chris asks,
“I don’t know, but we should get back to camp as fast as possible. Its getting dark and I don’t want those…….things to come back,†Greg said and the two of the continued back to camp.
As Greg and Chris arrive back at camp the memorial had already started. Claire was reading names out and giving then the send of they truly deserved.
“If you want you can put it by my tent, cover it in a tarp or something and we can share it out tomorrow,†Greg said,
“No it’s alright, I will put it by my tent, don’t want you having more than your fair share now,†Chris chuckles. Greg chuckles with him and then they both go there separate ways, Chris to secure the dead boar and Greg to the memorial.
“….Looks like he hadn’t traveled much, as far as I can tell from his passport.†Claire’s voice says clearly. Greg walks towards the group who all turn around as they see him coming. Then there is whispering amongst them. Then as Greg approaches the group split to let him through, almost like they expect him to say a few words.
“Ow my god are you alright, I was worried sick when you and Chris didn’t come back,†Rachel says dragging him from the path the crowd had made and giving him a big hug.
“And you care because?†Greg says,
“What do you mean?†Rachel asks,
“Well one minute you hate my guts and don’t want to see me ever again, the next its all hugs and kisses. If you are hugging me now then you are not hating me later,†Greg says, holding her by her shoulders at arm length,
“I was stupid, I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that, I am sorry,†Rachel said, forcing herself back into a hug with Greg.
“Good, so no more fighting ok?†Greg says whilst he hugs her,
“Ok,†Rachel says as she is rocked in Greg’s arms
“Good, so now were cool I have something I want to say, so if you excuse me,†Greg said letting go of Rachel and heading towards Claire who had stopped talking and was waiting for him with a look of total joy on her face t his return.
“Dude you have got to be superman?†Hurley said,
“If I was then I wouldn’t be injured would I,†Greg says pointing out the bandaged up gash on his leg.
“Your alive!†Claire shouts as she rushes towards him and hugs him,
“Don’t tell me you thought I was dead,†Greg chuckles but stops as he sees tears run down Claire’s face,
“I though you were dead,†She sobs,
“That’s what I came to talk to you all about. I have just been on a dangerous trek through the jungle. And it was no walk in the park let me tell you. It was only when I was attacked by a boar that I realized how dangerous this island really is. These people that we are cremating now were the ones that died, not us. We could have easily been one of them on this fire but we aren’t, because we survived. So these people that were the unlucky ones of flight 815. They died, so we didn’t have to, so don’t let them down by dieing on them, as they would love to be the ones that survived. Every man for himself will only get u so far before we end up as food for something bigger than a boar. We have to live together unless you all want to die alone. So lets give our thanks to the poor souls on this fire, that they gave there lives so that we could have a second chance to live our lives. And then start to work as a community instead of individually. Amen, and God bless there souls,†Greg says and then turn to Claire who couldn’t say anything, no one could say anything. Claire had expected a speech but not one so heart filled and loving as that.
“Amen,†Claire finally said
“Amen dude,†Hurley said also shocked by the speech. Soon the whole crowd was paying there respects. Even the people that weren’t religious still gave some thanks as the whole crowd said,
“Amen,†almost at the same time. Then Claire turned to Greg and said,
“That was beautiful, how did you come up with that?â€
“Once you stare danger in the eyes you become thankful for a lot of things, just like I was thankful for something’s when it was too late to get them back, to get her back,†Greg said saddened by the thought.
“Hey, don’t be sad, this is a day that we remember how thankful we are to be alive. I am sure the dead wouldn’t want to see that one of them could be alive and happy rather than you be alive and sad,†Claire says,
“I know, but I miss her Claire, and what’s worse is I don’t have a reason why I left her anymore. Not when I have become as bad as her,†Greg said as he hobbled through the crowd and to his tent wondering if she will ever forgive him, instead of him ever forgiving her.

This one is another huge one so I am sorry if it takes you a while.
The White Rabbit
Greg is woken up by a man shouting for help. As Greg listened more closely he could hear a slight English accent which could only be one person, Charlie. Then the shouting stopped and there was another voice talking. The voices were too quiet for Greg to hear whilst he was in the tent so he grabbed a stick which Jack had said would take the strain off his injured leg and helped himself up with it. He then went out of his tent to see Charlie as pale as a sheet explaining something to Jack,
“I woke up, and she’s…I don’t swim. I don’t swim!” Charlie shouts trying to explain why he wasn’t out there himself. As soon as Charlie said this Jack took off his shoes and shirt and threw them to one side before bursting into the water.
“What’s going on?” Greg asks, Charlie turns to Greg; unaware he was there and said,
“I thought Jack told you to stay in bed?” Charlie asks back,
“Yeah and I thought I just asked you what was going on,” Greg says back not being beaten by the has-been rockstar. Charlie sighed, knowing he had been beat and said,
“Someone is out in the water, there drowning,” Charlie said shakily as the very sound of the words made him feel sick.
“What?! Who is it?!” Greg said shocked by what he had just heard,
“I don’t know, it sounds like a woman,” Charlie said. Greg’s heart stopped as it hit him who it might be,
“Ow my god, Rachel!” Greg shouts hobbling down the beach to the crown that had gathered.
“Rachel!” Greg shouts again,
“You don’t have to yell you know,” Rachel says from behind Greg, he turns around and see’s her and she was with Chris,
“Thank god, I thought it was you out there,” Greg said,
“Well it isn’t,” Rachel said doing a little twirl to show Greg that she was truly there.
“Guys, if it isn’t Rachel out there then who is out there?” Chris asks, Greg ponders on the thought.
They watch as Jack bobs up and down in the sea and dives under in hope of finding the women. Greg hears someone shouting and looks over to see Shannon shouting what seemed like Boone’s name. Greg leaves Rachel and Chris to watch Jack and walks over to Shannon, even though he wanted to run to her his leg made that impossible
“Hey Shannon,” Greg says,
“Ow…errr.right…..listen have you seen Boone anywhere?” Shannon asks not really interested in talking to Greg,
“No I haven’t,” Greg answers,
“He always does this, he’s such a wanna-be hero. It was the same back in the real world, Mr. Lifeguard has to save everyone, He’s such a Jackass,” Shannon complains about her half brother.
“A lifeguard?” Greg says trying to get it round in his head,
“Yeah I know, lame Job isn’t it, but he insisted…..Hey where are you going?” Shannon says as Greg heads back to the group,
“I think I may have just found your brother,” Greg says to Shannon without turning round to her. As Greg reaches the group he says to Rachel and Chris,
“Boone…..its Boone,”
“Well done, how long did it take you to come up with that?” Rachel says rudely,
“What?” Greg says confused,
“Jack has already come back, and he has brought Boone with him,” Chris says. Greg peers over the crowd and just catches a glimpse of Boone’s head for a few seconds.
“But didn’t Charlie say he heard a women screaming?” Greg asks. Greg sees Jack head back out to sea after talking to Kate about something. Kate then walks out of the group past Greg.
“Hey Kate, why has Jack gone back out there?” Greg asks,
“He says there is someone else out there,” Kate says then continues along the beach, even less interested in talking to him as Shannon was. Suddenly Greg see’s Scot running down the beach towards them shouting,
“Chris!” Chris turns around to face him. “It’s Joanna.”
“What?” asks Chris, confused.
“Out in the water,” says Steve. “That’s Joanna out in the water.” Greg watches Chris look out at the water and then back at Scot, then back out towards the water but this time he stays staring out at the water. They go silent as Jack returns empty handed meaning that Joanna was gone. Greg couldn’t help but feel partly to blame as if his leg wasn’t injured he could have probably gone out as well and since he was a very good swimmer he could have saved Joanna whilst Jack saved Boone.
“I’ am sorry Chris, I could have gone out there if I wasn’t such an idiot yesterday and injured my leg,” Greg explains hoping it would make him feel better and not so much to blame,
“Just, leave me alone, I need some time to myself,” Chris says storming down the beach. Greg looks at Rachel, then at Scot and then out to sea and says in a slight whisper,
“I’m sorry Joanna,”
When the crowd had disbanded Greg was left with Rachel on the beach. Greg was still trying to get his head round what had happened.
“It’s not your fault she drown,” Rachel says for the third time,
“I am not saying it is, I am saying that if I hadn’t injured my leg then I could have saved her and all this could have been avoided,” Greg says saddened by the thought of not saving Joanna.
“How do you know you could have swum out to save her? Boone tried and the current was too string for him and he is a flaming life guard!” Rachel shouts Greg gives her a look of fear which Rachel tool into account and said,
“I am sorry for shouting; I just don’t want you to get hurt. If you would have gone out and drown then I would be one friend short. And on an island like this I need all the friends I can get,” Rachel said staring at Greg with wide eyes.
“I am just scared that Chris will blame me for what happened, after all I did say that I was a good swimmer and if I hadn’t hurt my leg then I would have gone out for her,” Greg explained,
“Chris can think what he likes, but right now he needs friends by him, so we should go and comfort him through this rough time, what do you say?” Rachel says standing up, Greg sighs and says,
“I guess I will have to face the music sometime,” and is about to head off when a hand grasps his shoulder and a man says,
“You are not going anywhere,” Greg turns around to see that it was Jack.
“Why not?” Greg asks,
“Because I didn’t stitch that cut up so you could walk around and have the stitching break. You need to go back to your tent and rest. I will give you plenty of water and some aspirin for the infection but you have to stay in bed for at least a day,” Jack says. Greg sighed at what Jack had said. He wanted to go see how Chris was doing but he knew that Jack knew best for him when it came to medical advice. After all, if what Jack said was right then he would be up and about tomorrow.
“Ok but you had better send some people may way to say hi and come for a chat, I hate being on my own,” Greg said hobbling to his tent,
“I will send some people to check up on you, just incase you decide that medical advice from a spinal surgeon isn’t worth listening to,” Jack chuckles, Greg smiles and then continues back to his tent.
As Greg settles down with plenty of covers over him and his leg elevated he takes some aspirin and relaxes. \He is about to grab his book when Rachel pokes her head into the tent.
“Hey,” She says softly,
“Hey Rachel, I didn’t know visiting hours had started already,” Greg said smiling,
“Ow, I can go if it isn’t convenient,” Rachel says taking her head out from the doorway.
“No, Rachel; wait!” Greg shouts in panic as Rachel leaves. She stops and pokes her head back into the tent. “Rachel if I have to spend an entire day alone I swear I am going to go crazy, please stay,” Greg says,
“Ok,” Rachel says, not really having to think about it. She comes into the tent and sits down. There is then an awkward silence where none of the two speak, before Claire says,
“So, how’s the leg?”
“Its ok, it still hurts a bit. How’s Chris?” Greg asks back,
“Good, he is ok, I just thought I would leave him to his space, you know” Rachel says,
“Yeah that’s the best thing to do.” Greg says. Then he says,
“So…..Do you have any children?” Rachel looks at him confused by the random question “No, I don’t. Do you?” Rachel asks. Greg looked away from Rachel and stared at nothing just to get his head clear and what he was going to say, as he remembers the day that the question would be answered.
In a flashback Greg comes home from work.
“Honey, I’m hone!” Greg shouts but nobody answers, “Imogene?” Greg says hoping he would get more luck this time. He goes upstairs and puts his suitcase in his office. When he comes out he can here crying in the bathroom. He goes to open the door but it was locked.
“Are you in there Imogene?” Greg asks. There was no answer although it was obvious she was. “What’s wrong/” Greg asks knowing that when someone is crying it is obvious that something is wrong.
“Nothings wrong,” A muffled sob came from the other side of the door,
“Then can you open the door?” Greg asks knowing that something was wrong but wanted her to come out from the bathroom so they could talk about it properly.
“No, just give me a few minutes,” Imogene said. There was a scurry, then a clanging sound as something was thrown into the bin. Then more scurrying and then the sound of the bathroom door being unlocked. Then the door opened and there stood Imogene, with huge red marks under her eyes and her eye liner smeared in huge black blobs. It was obvious she had been crying. She went to walk out of the bathroom but Greg put his arm to the other side of the door frame, blocking her path. He then said softly.
“Now are you going to what’s really wrong?” and gave her a worried look.
“I knew better than to try and lie to a detective,” She chuckled but then her expression faded back to its sad look.
“No, you should have lied to the man who loves you, that’s where you went wrong,” Greg chuckled hoping she would laugh with him but she just ducked under his arm and walked over to the sofa where she fell onto it as if she didn’t even care if it was there and wiped her eyes with her T-shirt. Greg walked over to her and sat next to her. He put his arm around her shoulder and said “You know, you can tell me anything right?” and Imogene nodded but didn’t look at him. “Well then, Why don’t you tell me what is wrong,” Greg says placing his fingers under her chin and redirecting her vision on him gently so it was almost like his hand didn’t even need to touch her face. Imogene sobbed and said,
“I cant, it’s…..” And then burst into tear again, forcing her eyes away from his. Greg’s whole expression changed from jokingly gentle, to worryingly serious.
“It cant be that bad Imogene, I mean, its not like you are going to die or anything……..Your not dieing are you?” Greg said with a bit of haste in his speech as he realised that that could be why she was so upset.
“No, I am not dieing,” Imogene sobbed, her voice was wheezy as her throat had closed up from all the crying she had done.
“Well then what is wrong? Please Imogene, tell me. I hate seeing you like this; I just want to know what is upsetting you so I can sort it. Please, I just want to know. I promise that I won’t shout or yell or do anything to harm you, I just have to know what is wrong because I can’t bear seeing you like this.” Greg says grabbing Imogene’s hands gently and rubbing them with his thumbs to show her that he wouldn’t hurt her. Imogene looked at him at her own will which was the first time she had done so without being prompted. Her eyes were full of tears, some of which had trickled down to her nose and dripped off the end. Greg waited both eagerly but also worryingly as he hadn’t seen Imogene like this, ever. Each second that passed by was ripping him to shreds as he awaited the answer to his ever hounding.
“I’m Pregnant,” Imogene said managing to pluck up enough courage to say those two words. She then seemed to back to the other end of the sofa so that she could escape if she needed to. Greg’s worried expression turned to a blank, emotionless face; his eyes stared blankly at Imogene who had the exact same worried look as Greg did before. “Say something,” Imogene said as she couldn’t bare the silence any longer.
“Your pregnant,” Greg said softly, out of his usual tone. Imogene nodded, hoping it would make him continue.
After a few more minutes of silence of Greg summing up the prose and cons of the situation he finally said,
“Well, this is great,” and he looked at Imogene with an expression she understood. It was sort of an awaiting smile. But not quite a smile. It was the kind of expression that people used when they awaited for someone else to ether smile or frown so they could quickly withdraw there slight smile if the other person disagreed.
“What?” Imogene said surprised to here Greg say such a thing.
“Its Great news Imogene,” Greg said, his smile this time beaming from ear to ear.
“Really?” Imogene said still trying to take in the sudden joy Greg had,
“Absolutely! Baby, we are going to be parents! Doesn’t that excite you?!” Greg shouts jumping up from the sofa.
“It does but what about you’re Job?” Imogene asks,
“What about it?” Greg shouts jumping around with glee,
“Well you work almost all day, 8:00 to 7:00, will you have time for our baby?” Imogene says,
“I am getting an assistant detective anyway. I think his name is Chris, he is going to be helping me with the paperwork and helping me free up some time. Of course they had to split my pay package but heck I don’t mind, as long as it means I can spend more time with you!” Greg shouts dragging Imogene up off the sofa and dancing around with her.
“So you mean we are really going to do this?” Imogene says almost sounding as excited as Greg.
“Yes! Yes! We are going to have a baby!” Greg says still jumping around but then stops and becomes slightly serious again. “We are going to be parents,” He says gently and Imogene jumps into a hug with Greg and then they kiss each other neither one of then willing to let the other go.
Back on the beach, Greg shakes his head back to his tent where Imogene was still awaiting the answer to her question.
“No, no I haven’t,” Greg says sadly,
“But you seem the kind of guy that would…..” Rachel starts,
“Well I don’t ok! So just leave it will you!” Greg shouts unexpectedly. Rachel stares at him both shocked and scared, almost like Imogene used to look when he got mad. Greg’s expression turned back to its gentle look just as quick as it had changed and he said, “Look, I am sorry. I am just……I mean…………I didn’t tell you the whole truth. You see, there was a child, my son, but he died.” Greg said unwilling to go on. Rachel’s look of fear changed to a sad look but her shock only grew.
“I am sorry, I should never have brought it up,” Rachel said starting to get herself up.
“No wait Rachel, please stay. It is good to get it out of my system. Go ahead, ask me what you want and I promise I won’t get mad again,” Greg says gently. Rachel looked at him like Imogene did when he asked her to tell him what was wrong as said,
“So, how old was he when he………you know……past away,” Rachel said, trying her best to avoid the word. Greg took a deep breath as it was eating him up trying to explain it after he had hid it for so long but he managed to say,
“He wasn’t even a second old, he never got to see what this world was like. Never got to see his parents. Never…..” Greg said but the pain was too much and he put his head in his hands,
“So your saying…..” Rachel said but paused as she didn’t know how to word it,
“Yes I am,” Greg said,
“Maybe we should leave I there,” Rachel said not wanting to hear any more,
“No, I have to; it’s the only way I will get rid of it from my system. Otherwise it will just eat me alive, like it did for 3 years.” Greg said looking up at her with tears trickling down his face as he began to tell the story.
In a flashback, Greg was sat in his office, doing some paperwork when a man with short blonde hair comes up to his desk with a huge pile of paper.
“I have done all of that filing you wanted Sir,” the man said,
“Ok, thanks Chris, ow and you don’t have to call me Sir, you can call me Greg,” Greg says,
“Ok Sir, I will bare that in mind,” Chris said as if he hadn’t been listening to what Greg had said. Greg shakes his head and gets back to writing up a report when his phone rings. He picks it up and says,
“Hello?”
“You have a call from Cardiff general hospital, do you want me to put them through,” The women on the other end of the phone said, her welsh accent gentle and sweet. Greg paused for a few seconds, why would Cardiff general be phoning him up? “Mr. Young,” the women says but Greg was too deep in thought to hear her. ”GREG!” the women shouts making Greg jump slightly.
“Ummmm, owwww, errrrrr, Ok send them through Joanna,” Greg says nervous at this stage. There is a slight pause and then a woman on the other end of the phone said,
“Mr. Young?” in a welsh accent, muffled by her blocked nose type voice.
“Yes,” Greg said sweat running down his forehead.
“We have your girlfriend here Mr. Young, Imogene brown, I am afraid there has been an accident and she has been…….hello?” The women says as she see’s if Greg was still there but he wasn’t. Greg had jumped up out of his seat and had rushed to the lift as soon as he had heard Imogene’s name. He half punched the button for the lift and waited a few seconds, hardly enough time for the lift to arrive at his floor then he kicked the door of the lift and rushed to the stairs.
After rushing down half the stairs and jumping down the rest he burst into the reception area and headed towards the automatic doors.
“Wait! Greg, aren’t you going to sign out?!” Joanna shouts to Greg as he rushes out of the door but he was already gone. Greg ran to his black Audi A4 and jumped inside. He started it in record time and slammed his foot on the accelerator and the car reversed out of the space at 30 miles an hour. Greg then slammed his foot on the brake, causing the car to do a 130 degree spin before he put the automatic in F for forward and sped off out of the police station car park and through the streets of Cardiff to the hospital.
Greg race into Cardiff general’s car par and parked his car in 3 spaces and no were near straight before jumping out and rushing into the hospital. He burst into the hospital where all eyes seemed to focus on him as soon as he burst though the door. He didn’t even bother to look around so continued walking until he reached the doors saying ‘staff only’ He opened them and was about to continue when the receptionist said,
“You can’t go that way sir unless you are accompanied by a member of staff,”
“I am here to see my girlfriend, Imogene,” Greg says
“That may be but you have to come and wait here and I will get someone to take you,” The women says pointing to a waiting area where people with cuts on there heads and pieces of glass sticking out of there arms and nasty coughs were sitting.
“I’ll take him,” a slightly fat, pig faced women said walking past the receptionist, staring at Greg’s ass before she grabbed his arm and dragged him through the doors.
“Where are we going?” Greg asks
“The maternity ward,” The women answers,
“Maternity ward? Wait that means…….its the baby! Is it ok?” Greg says a look of utter shock comes over his face. The woman says nothing although she seemed like the kind of woman that would be the first and last person to say something, with a lot of things to say in between as well but she was silent.
When they reached the Maternity ward. The women, who still hadn’t said anything since he had asked if the baby was ok, showed him to a room where he saw doctors and nurses standing by Imogene’s bed. They said something to Imogene who shouted something back and then burst into to tears. She tucked her knees up to her body and buried her head into her knees. The woman then let Greg into the room where a tanned, rugged looking man looked in Greg’s direction and approached him.
“You must Be Greg Young, I am Doctor Coldwell, but just call me Stitch,” The man said a bit too cheerfully for his own good.
“What’s wrong? Is it the baby? Is it ok?” Greg asks hastily
“I think I should let your lovely girlfriend explain that, although you might not get much out of her for a while,” Stitch said, again way too cheerful for his own good before walking past Greg and out of the room. Greg would have wanted to punch the living daylights out of Stitch if he didn’t have more important things to think about right now, like Imogene and his baby.
Greg slowly approached Imogene who was still crying into her knees. When he reached the bedside all the doctors and nurses who were there had now vanished out of the room, leaving Greg and Imogene alone.
“Hey baby, how are you?” Greg asks grabbing hold of one of Imogene’s hands and holding it gently. Imogene looked up from her knee’s and said,
“I am fine,” as if she was hoping that she wasn’t, or that she didn’t really car if she was or not.
“And the baby?” Greg asks. Imogene’s eyes fill up again and she whispers,
“There is no baby,”
“What?” Greg says not wanting to believe what he had just heard,
“There is no baby! He’s dead Greg! He’s dead,” Imogene shouts over her sobs. Tears run down Greg’s face as he starts to cry at what Imogene had just told him. He reaches down and hugs Imogene who hugs him back,
“I am sorry, I should have let you drive, not in your condition,” Greg says, blaming himself,
“Don’t blame yourself, blame the b*****d that was going up the one way street the wrong way,” Imogene sobs.
“Is that what happened?” Greg says forcing himself away from the hug just to stare into Imogene’s eyes. She nods and then looks towards the door and her eyes narrow as she sees a man with scruffy blonde hair, stubble of a beard and looked like he had just been high on drugs. He had several fingers on his fingers and had his other arm in a sling.
“Is that him, the b*****d that killed our child?” Greg asks, Imogene nods as she sobs. Greg jumps up off the bed and marches towards the man.
“Wait, no don’t do it Greg! He isn’t worth it!” Imogene shouts but Greg was beyond words. The man backed towards the doors but Greg was approaching him too fast for him to do anything. Greg sent a hard straight punch into the mans nose that broke it instantly, before he grabbed him and threw him through the doors out of the room and sliding along the floor.
“You b*****d! I am going to kill you, you scum!” Greg said walking towards the man who was on his back on the floor, his hands up to his face to try and stop any more blows. Greg was about to bend down and punch the man but the hospital security came to the rescue and restrained Greg before taking him outside and throwing him out of the hospital.
Back in the room Imogene was crying uncontrollably. The only person that could help her get through her son’s death had been thrown out of the hospital. The man got up onto his feet and grabbed a towel that was handed to him by one of the nurses. He then refused to go with the nurses until he had talked to Imogene so they let him have a few words, this time under careful observation. He approached Imogene who watched him in disgust as he approached her.
“I am sorry, for what I did, I didn’t know, I swear, and I was high, I wasn’t thinking straight,” the man explained,
“I don’t want your excuses. I don’t even want to talk to you. All I want to know is the name of the man that killed my baby,” Imogene said calmly, although she too felt like punching the man. All the man could do was give his name, and then hold the shame of having killed Imogene’s and Greg’s baby,
“My name is Charlie Pace,” Charlie said,
“Well, Charlie, I hope your ever night is haunted by what you have done this day, you hear me! I hate you! I hate you! You murderer! I hate you!” Imogene screamed scratching and punching at Charlie. Then started to cry again as the nurses came in and took Charlie away from Imogene and left her alone to cry herself to sleep.
Back on the beach, Greg was in tears after having to repeat the terrible event. Even Rachel was crying at such a terrible tragedy.
“I am so sorry for what happened; I should never have made you repeat such a thing. I am sorry,” Rachel sobbed,
“No, it’s ok. I needed to get it off my chest; I needed to talk to someone about it.” Greg sobbed as he wiped the tears from his eyes. Rachel seemed to be crying more than him now so he gave her a hug which she returned, and then she sobbed,
“I don’t know how you manage to talk about such a thing like that. Most normal people would have gone into a mental breakdown.” Rachel says,
“Maybe that’s because I haven’t had mine yet,” Greg said slightly scared now.
“What do you mean?” Rachel asks,
“I have been so busy in my life after the crash, looking after Imogene who did have a total mental breakdown and had to have concealing which helped her a lot, that I haven’t had time,” Greg explains which seemed to confused Rachel further. “I have been so busy think about anything else other than that day that I have bottled it up inside for so long, that it makes me seem like a robot, emotionless. But since we crashed here, I have felt all of those feelings rush back and now……I don’t know what to think. I think this island is changing me Rachel, and I don’t think I can stop it,” Greg says as he stares into Rachel’s eyes. They looked exactly the same as they did when they were swimming. The deep, swirling, pools of green seemed to draw Greg closer to Rachel and before they knew what was going on there lips were locked and they were kissing, very passionately. When they finally stopped kissing they stared at each other and then returned back to reality. Greg clears his throat and then says
“Was that serious or were you just upset?”
“A bit of both, like you I don’t really know what I am doing, but I knew exactly what I was doing then. It really helped, thanks,” Rachel said standing up,
“Dint mention it,” Greg said trying to figure out what it really meant,
“Wait, this isn’t just one of those things where you go tell Chris now that I sexually assaulted you or something and have him break my other leg?” Greg asks, Rachel turns around and chuckles then says,
“Good bye Greg,” not even answering his question, although the answer was obvious. Greg took some more pain killers and had a bit of fruit before he felt very sleepy. Whether it was the pain killers that were making him drowsy, whether it was the infection making its mark or whether he was just tired from talking to Rachel about his terrible life. What ever it was, it was doing its job, as Greg felt his eye lids drop and a few seconds later, his head land softly on his make-shift pillow as he falls to sleep.
When Greg woke up he opened his eyes and saw a women standing above him.
“Holy f**k!” He shouts as the woman scares the life out of him. He rubs his eyes to make sure he was not hallucinating and she was gone. His breathing was heavy as he attempts to get his breath back.
“What’s wrong?” Rachel says bursting into the tent,
“Were you just in my tent?” Greg asks Rachel looks at him with a look of confusion upon her face and answers,
“No I wasn’t,”
“I swear I saw someone, a women standing above me,” Greg says with a slight tremble in his voice. There is a long pause as both try to work out what had happened, then Rachel looks at Greg and says,
“You’re probably just dehydrated. You should drink more water,” Rachel says looking for Greg’s bottle so he could have a drink.
“Its all gone Rachel, I drank it all,” Greg says,
“So why didn’t you call me to get you some more?” Rachel asks with an annoyed tone, one that your mother would give you if you didn’t tell her something.
“Because I fell asleep and I woke up to find her stood over me,” Greg says back,
“So you were probably tired then, maybe still dreaming,” Rachel says making up yet another excuse.
“Will you quit making up so many excuses for it! I saw her, ok. I wasn’t dreaming and I wasn’t dehydrated!” Greg snaps. There was moment of silence before Greg said, “Well since I am out of water could you get me some more, please,” Rachel gave him a sorry look and said.
“There is no water. Someone has taken it. And even if there was I think Claire would need it more, after all she did…..” Rachel starts but stops after she realizes what she was doing.
“Why? What’s happened to her?” Greg asks, something Rachel dreaded after she had said too much,
“Its nothing, really,” Rachel says trying to undo her mistake,
“Nothing?! Rachel she’s Pregnant. If something has happened to her or the baby I want to know,” Greg said trying to get himself up,
“Where are you going?” Rachel says trying to stop him from getting up.
“I am going to see Claire,” Greg says still trying to fight against Rachel,
“You can’t Jack said……” Rachel start but is interrupted by Greg,
“Yeah and where is Jack? Because last thing I heard of him he was telling me that he was a spinal surgeon, not flipping Indiana Jones! So if Jocko is allowed to go on a white rabbit hunt with Johnny Locke then I think I am allowed to go see Claire,” Greg says finally getting himself up, without the help of Rachel.
“But I told Jack I would tend to your every need and make sure you were ok,” Rachel explains,
“Well then, help me to wherever they have Claire,” Greg says and he puts his arm around Rachel and she helps take the weight off his leg and helps him walk towards the infirmary.
When Greg and Rachel reach the tent Greg see’s Charlie grab hold of someone and drag them out of the tent, I was Boone.
“Here’s your thief!” Charlie shouts as he throws Boone to the ground.
“Where did he hide it?” Michael asks,
“I don’t know, this w****r had three bottles on him! Why did you do it, pretty boy? Ey?” Charlie asks getting ready to punch Boone,
“Hey! I will ask the questions around here!” Greg shouts breaking loose from Rachel’s grip and hobbling over to Charlie and Boone.
“And who says you get to ask the questions?” Charlie says turning his attention to Greg.
“Not who Charlie, but what,” Greg says pulling out his police badge. “This gave me the right to question anyone I wanted in the world we used to live in. I would flash this and immediately I expected people to tell me what I wanted to know.” Greg says to the small crowd that had gathered.
“Well guess what…..DC Young; we aren’t in the real bloody world. We are on an island in the middle of bloody nowhere!” Charlie shouts,
“And that gives you the right to at like animals does it. It’s about time we had some order round here. It’s what separates us from the boar that came to camp the night before last. So from now on. Where there is a problem, I will be there, flashing my badge. And god help you if you don’t tell me what I want to know.” Greg says his eyes fixed on Charlie’s with a fiery burning inside them. Charlie glared at Greg a while longer then snorts and marches of kicking Boone in the ribs as he walks past. Greg walks over to Boone and offers him a helping hand.
“Thanks man,” Boone says grabbing the hand and he is pulled up by Greg. As Boone tries to walk off Greg pulls Boone towards him and puts his arm around his back.
“Now Boone, tell me what I want to know,” Greg whispers in his ear whilst keeping him in the restraining hold.
“What are you doing?” Boone shouts trying to get himself free.
“I help you not get beaten to a pulp by Charlie. So now I want to know the answers to the questions Charlie asked, like where the water is and why you would be so bloody selfish as to take it,” Greg says,
“All right, I’ll tell you, just let me go, please!” Bonne shouts obviously scared. Greg throws him into the plane chair outside Sawyers tent and pulls out his badge and shoves it in Boones face.
“Now, tell me what I want to know.” Greg says with a smirk on his face.
“Ok, I did take the water, but only because it wouldn’t have lasted between 40 people,” Boone explains,
“What and you though it would if you took it all and hid it?” Greg says,
“No, but everyone was arguing over it, someone had to take responsibility for the water.” Bone continues to explain,
“You do know that your little freedom fighter move almost killed someone. And not just anyone, a Pregnant women.” Greg says wanting to make Boone less interested in making up excuses and sorrier for what he had done.
“I know, and I am sorry for it but I would have given some to her sooner but I knew that if I would have then Charlie would have found out and then this would happen,” Boone said still quite scared. Greg looked around and sighed then he said,
“Ok I think you have learnt your lesson,” Boone started to get up but Greg pushed him back him the chair and lent closer to him and said.
“But next time you decide to go freedom fighter on the camp I wont step in the way of Charlie’s fists, got it,” Greg threatened. Boone nodded and Greg finally let him up where Boone ran back to the infirmary.
“Looks like we’ll all have to be on our best behavior with DC Young about,” someone chuckles behind Greg. Greg spins around and saw Rachel laughing to herself.
“Indeed you will Rachel, This camp needs order, and I am just the person to bring it to it,” Greg says, Rachel comes up next to Greg and puts her arm around him,
“So what do you do to naughty girls DC Young,” Rachel chuckles,
“Same as the rest of the criminals I lock up, only they usually hit me with pans first,” Greg Chuckles, Rachel smiles and they both walk back to the infirmary.
When they reach the infirmary Jack is there making a speech. It seems like Charlie found Boone and decided to issue his own form of punishment by punching him. But all eyes were on Jack who was making a very long speech.
“It’s been six days, and we’re all still waiting. Waiting for someone to come. But what if they don’t? We have to stop waiting. We need to start figuring things out. A woman died this morning just going for a swim. And he tried to save her, and now you’re about to crucify him? We can’t do this. ‘Every man for himself’ is not gonna work. It’s time to start organizing. We need to figure out how we’re gonna survive here. Now I found water, fresh water, up in the valley. I’ll take a group in at first light. If you don’t wanna come, then find another way to contribute. Last week, most of us were strangers. But we’re all here now. And God knows how long we’re gonna be here. But if we can’t live together, we’re gonna die alone.” Everyone seemed to heed Jacks words and then the crowd disbanded leaving Greg to talk to Jack.
“And there was me thinking you were just a spinal surgeon, turns out there is a little bit of a philosopher in you after all,” Greg Chuckles,
“If I was that wise then why didn’t you heed my words and stay in bed?” jack chuckles back,
“Because Jack, if I had stayed in bed, then Charlie would have pounded Boone to a bloody pulp, and the rest of the camp would have been handing him weapons. It’s like you said, we can’ keep living like animals, which is why I suggest we do something about it,” Greg says,
“What do you mean ‘do something about it’?” Jack asks,
“I mean forcing a community, since the community doesn’t seem to be forming on its own,” Greg explains,
“Sorry I still don’t get you,” Jack says, Greg sighs and pulls out his badge,
“This used to give me the power to ask questions and get answers all the time. Anyone who didn’t I would take down to the station and throw them in jail until they were ready to talk. But since we don’t have now jail cells here I thought of a more…….direct approach to getting answer,” Greg says,
“Would this involve beating them up?” Jack asks,
“No, well maybe a little but I had a better idea, and it involves that Sayid guy,” Greg says,
“Will it breach the Human rights of the person?” Jack asks,
“I don’t know if you have noticed Jack but I would say the last thing people are thinking about is if there human rights are being exploited. Jack Charlie unfairly punished Boone today by almost beating him silly. Now I could stop stuff like that happening, but for me to do that I will need the power that this badge gave me. And the only I am going to do that is by showing people what happens to people who don’t listen to me. It’s the only way order will even think of rearing its head to the camp, and you know it.” Greg explains, Jack thinks about it and then says,
“No,” And walks off,
“You’re making a big mistake Jack. How many more people have to be beaten up before you realize that?!” Greg shouts to Jack who wasn’t listening at this point. After jack and Gone Greg looked at his badge and said,
“Live together die alone ey. I hope you know what you are doing doc, because I know exactly what I am doing,” and walks back to his tent to rest his leg.

Lol I have ben churning them out today so I can catch up to real Lost. If you havent read Thew white Rabbit then You should do that before you read this one which is The house of rising Sun otherwise you may get confused. But for your viewing pleasure. here is, The house of rising Sun.
The House of rising Sun
Greg was walking along the beach with Rachel. Jack had seen him later that morning and told him that his leg was healing pretty fast and that the stitching could be removed. He had also told him that he would have to exercise it a lot but not to push it too much. So Greg had decided to take a walk along the beach. He didn’t want to take a swim after what happened to Joanna and his leg was still a bit sour and weak so he wouldn’t be able to swim as well as he used to. Rachel has spotted him going for a walk whilst she was swimming and had decided to join him.
“So, the leg seems to be getting a lot better huh?” Rachel asks watching Greg walk almost normally although he did have a slight limp from time to time when his leg started to feel the pressure of walking.
“Yeah it does, I was actually surprised how fast it had recovered,” Greg said looking at his leg as if it would tell him the answer. Suddenly there was screaming and shouting coming from further down the beach. Rachel and Greg looked at each other then Rachel chuckles,
“Looks like the new sheriff has his first problem,”
“Yeah but I am no good as a sheriff if my leg isn’t back to full health, and Jack said I shouldn’t do any extreme stuff on it, like running,” Greg said,
“And since when have you listened to Jack?” Rachel pointed out.
“Your right, come on,” Greg said half jogging, half hopping to the screaming and shouting.
When Greg and Rachel reached the commotion they saw Jin, the Korean man beating the life out of Michael.
“And Jack wonders why I want to bring a bit of law and order to this beach,” Greg says before walking towards Sun and Walt who were screaming and shouting at the two men. Sayid grabs Jin and pulls him off Michael. Greg holds out his handcuffs to Sayid.
“Here,” He says,
“Why are you giving me these?” Sayid asks whilst trying to hold Jin.
“Well I can’t start wrestling with him can I,” Greg says,
“That doesn’t answer my question.” Sayid says,
“Because you are going to hand cuff him to that piece of fuselage so he can stop beating the life out of Michael.” Greg explains,
“But Jack….” Sayid starts,
“Jack isn’t here, he has gone off on some crazy quest that will end up getting him, Kate, or Charlie eaten,” Greg says,
“Jack went to get water,” The women with the annoying voice says as she walks past,
“Exactly, which leaves me in charge of the beach. So Sayid, hand cuffs him to the fuselage unless you want to be the one to explain to Jack why Michael has a fishing spear in his back?” Greg says. Sayid sighs and takes the handcuffs and puts one side on Jin’s hand and the other on the fuselage. Sawyer then helps Michael up and says,
“Ok Michael, so now we stopped Hidden Dragon from killin’ ya, ya mind tellin’ us what the hell it was all about?” Sawyer says,
“He just came up to me and attacked me,” Michael says. Sawyer looks back at Greg and Sayid who shrug and look as confused as he did.
“So your sayin’ that he just came up to you and attacked you, for no reason?” Sawyer asks,
“Yes, that’s what happened,” Michael says
“Michael, I don’t take kindly to thugs but I ain’t too fond of liars ether so why don’t you tell us what really happened, because I am sure the Korean guy isn’t the kind of person to just walk up to someone and try to drown him.
“I am not lieing man! I swear!” Michael shouts.
“Well then what really happened?” Sayid asks,
“I was just walking down the beach with my son, and all of a sudden this dude is all up on me. I didn’t do anything.” Michael says,
“Are you sure you didn’t do or say anything?” Greg asks,
“Yes!” Michael shouts,
“Surely there must be something your not telling us?” Sayid said,
“Surely? Where are you from, man?” Michael asks rather rudely,
“Tikrit, Iraq,” Sayid answers,
“Okay, I don’t know how it is in Iraq, but in the United States of America, where I’m from, Korean people don’t like black people. Did you know that?” Michael asks, Sayid shakes his head. The Korean man shouts something in Korean to them,
“Yeah well he seems to disagree with you there Michael,” Greg says,
“Well if you are so sure that I am lieing then you should go talk to him,” Michael says pointing to Jin.
“I would Michael but I don’t speak Korean. And I don’t think Sawyer or Sayid do ether so If you can’t talk to the criminal, talk to the victim,” Greg says,
“Yeah that’s what I am, the victim, so why are you questioning me like I am the criminal?” Michael says,
“Were you not listening to what I said Michael? If you can’t speak to the criminal then speak with the victim,” Greg repeats,
“Sounds like you are just finding excuses because you like him more than me, are you racist?” Michael asks Greg,
“No I am not; otherwise I would have done what he has just done a long time ago. Now I will leave you alone for now Michael. But If I find that you have been lieing to me then I will make you feel like a bloody victim, got it?” Greg threatens,
“Are you threatening me, man?” Michael says,
“No I m giving you your last chance to tell us the truth before I find out your lieing and finish off the job the Korean dude started,” Greg says before standing up and walking over to Sayid and Sawyer who were trying to talk with the Korean women who was supposedly the wife of the Korean man. She speaks Korean and point to her wrist.
“The cuffs stay on,” Sayid says,
“Little louder, Omar and maybe she’ll understand you,” Sawyer says
“Guys. That Chinese dudes gonna get pretty crispy out here. How long you gonna keep him tied down like that?” Hurley says who was with them,
“As long as it takes to solve this mystery, after all he should have thought about that before he tried to kill Michael. Although Michael isn’t the herald of all things truthful ether so we have ether taken the initiative and done the right thing, or convicted an innocent man. Ether way someone is going to be the first to show the camp why we need to form a community,” Greg says before walking away down the beach letting his thoughts take him over.
Greg continued to walk down the beach, trying to figure out why Jin had attacked Michael. All Greg’s days as a DC he had never seen a man punch another man for no reason. As Greg walked he bumped into Rachel who looked like she had been fruit picking.
“Hey Greg,” She said as she was coming out of the forest,
“Ow, hey Rachel, what’s up?” Greg asks,
“Ow nothing, just been fruit picking, want some?” Rachel asks,
“Yes please,” Greg says grabbing a lemon that Rachel held out for him and sunk his teeth into the lemon and took a huge bite out of it. Scoffing it down in record time.
“Wow, you must have been very hungry?” Rachel says amazed that someone could eat something so sour that fast.
“I ran out of boar and fruit. Locke and I were meant to go today but with the water shortage it seems he has been preoccupied with this water trek. And Chris is still getting over Joanna, poor thing,” Greg said,
“Well Chris is talking now. Although he doesn’t say much at least he says something right?” Rachel says,
“Absolutely,” Greg says happy that Chris is letting go of Joanna at last.
“You should talk to him. You men might be able to talk about more than me and him could. I kinda think I remind him too much of Joanna, and I promised Shannon I would sunbath with her,” Rachel says,
“Ok, I will do that. Maybe it will take my mind off the Korean man,” Greg says walking past her,
“Ow yeah have you found out why the Korean man attacked Michael?!” Rachel shouts to Greg,
“No, I haven’t, that’s why I need to take my mind off him!” Greg shouts back,
“Has the great DC Young finally found a case tougher than he is?! Rachel chuckles, Greg laughs and says,
“I’m telling you, if all this islands problems are like this then I might retire from being the sheriff,” before heading down the beach to the spot where the black women used to sit, now occupied by Chris.
When Greg reached the spot he saw Chris sitting there on his own, throwing rocks out at the sea.
“Hey Chris,” Greg says approaching the Scottish man.
“Ow great, that’s all I need. A cop with an even bigger head than mine,” Chris says,
“Fine, you know what Chris, I won’t sit here and be insulted by you and your harsh words!” Greg shouts turning around to walk away.
“Wait! Look I am sorry for saying that. Please stay,” Chris says, Greg stops walking and turns around,
“Its ok, Chris, I know it must be hard for you,” Greg says sitting down and wincing at the pain that his leg causes him as he does. Chris notices this and says.
“How’s the leg?” Chris asks,
“It getting better, yesterday I could even walk on it without it hurting like hell. But it has healed pretty well,” Greg says. Chris nods showing he agreed and then it fell silent for a few minutes. Neither of them spoke for a while. It was almost like they were waiting for the other to speak first. Then Greg says, “You know Chris I know how it feels, to loose someone you care about,”
“You couldn’t possibly imagine what I am going through Greg,” Chris says
“What makes you so sure?” Greg asks,
“Go on then, tell me how you could possibly think you know what I am going through,” Chris says. Greg sighs and then says,
“3 years ago. I found out I was going to be a father. It was the happiest day of my life. I couldn’t believe it. 4 months later my life, my girlfriend’s life, and the babies’ life was destroyed by one man and a van. That was the day I lost my son. It doesn’t matter how hard I try to forget about it, I cant, the pain is far too great. So tell me now Chris that I can’t imagine what you are going through,” Greg says annoyed at having to have repeated it. Chris was shocked at what he had just heard. He didn’t expect Greg to come out with something like that but he believed his pain was still worse.
“I am sorry, I didn’t know,” Chris says, Greg shakes his head and says,
“No, it’s alright. I got it out of my system yesterday when I was talking to Rachel,”
“I lost my sister to that, the sea. Since then I have always hated to go into the sea. I never could nor can swim. I guess that just makes the pain even worse. Knowing that I would have been able to go out and save her, save Joanna. But seeing her out there, gasping for air and waving her arms for help brought every feeling back that I felt the day they told me that my sister drown. And it hurt Greg. It hurts knowing that she was out there, screaming for help and I couldn’t go out and save her. All because I couldn’t swim.” Chris says, Greg is silent, knowing that he had been beat on the “Who had the worst tragedy” competition.
“I am sorry Chris, unlike you I can swim; I was just stupid enough to get injured before hand.” Greg says,
“It’s not your fault, you can’t blame yourself,” Chris says, annoyed that Greg was again blaming himself for Joanna’s death.
“And you can’t blame yourself for her death either.” Greg says back.
“Well My sister did give me a photo of her before she died. I guess she knew that she was going to die soon and gave it to me to remind me of her. I would hate to think what would happen if someone stole it from me,” Chris says. Suddenly it hits Greg. Greg sparks to life and jumps up and says to Chris,
“Chris, the day you were trying to get fish from the Korean man. Did he say anything to you about loosing something?” Greg asks,
“How should I know, I don’t speak Korean,” Chris says,
“Ok did he do anything to indicate that he was looking for something?” Greg asks.
“He kept pointing to his wrist. Other than that nothing that looked to make any sense, why?” Chris asks,
“Because Chrissie I may have just saved a Korean man from becoming a hot dog,” Greg said half jogging, half hopping down the beach to where he had had Sayid handcuff Jin to the fuselage.
When he arrived Jin was looking very hit and weak. However that didn’t stop him shouting at Greg in Korean.
“Easy mate, easy I just want to talk with you,” Greg said trying to calm the Korean man down. The Korean women say something to the Korean man in Korean and the man calms down. “Ok, have you calmed down? Good, I need to talk to you, about something you might have lost. Have you lost anything? Do you think Michael has stolen it?” Greg says knowing he woke be able to get much out of them as they probably didn’t understand a word he said. He turns around and walks away, heading back down the beach to talk with Sayid about his theory. As he does he realizes that the Korean woman was following him. When he gets far enough away from The Korean man he turns around and snaps,
“What is your problem lady? I just want to know why the hell you husband that is if he is your husband would attack Michael like he did? Bah you probably don’t even understand a word I am saying,” Greg says turning back around and carrying on.
“Wait, please.” The Korean woman says in English. Greg stops and turns back around to her with a look of utter confusion on his face.
“You speak English?” Greg asks just wanting to know if he wasn’t just hearing things,
“Yes,” she says again in English,
“Jesus why the hell didn’t you speak some English sooner before we hand cuffed you husband to a piece of fuselage?!” Greg shouts,
“He doesn’t know I speak English. If he found out then he would be really angry. He would do far worse than he did to Michael this morning,” she says,
“Ok well now I know this little secret can you tell me why your husband attacked Michael?” Greg asks,
“It’s like you said, my husband, Jin, he lost his gold watch a few days ago. Then he saw Michael with his watch on and he went to get I back,” The women says,
“So your telling me…..” Greg starts but pauses,
“My name is Sun,” The women says,
“Ok so you are telling me Sun that your husband almost killed Michael because he wanted his watch back?” Greg asks,
“The watch was my fathers. Protecting the watch was a question of honour.” Sun answers,
“What and Jin thinks it’s honourable to be hand cuffed to a piece of fuselage like an animal?” Greg says,
“He didn’t know that everyone would react like that,” Sun says,
“Wait, let me get this straight. Your husband didn’t think anyone would react to him almost killing Michael like he did? And all because he didn’t want to dishonour your father by just asking for the watch back?” Greg says,
“But Jin can’t speak English,” Sun says,
“I am aware of that but I am sure we could have got the gist of pointing and hand gestures better than we could him just hitting Michael!” Greg shouts still pushing Sun into a corner with his questions. He sees that she is being overwhelmed and says, “Look, I am sorry for shouting and for all the questions. I am just annoyed with myself for not finding the answer to this mystery sooner than I did. I am a detective. I should have known that you could understand English too well. I am sorry. Tell Jin that I will let him free,” Greg says walking past Sun but feels a hand land on his shoulder.
“No, wait. Let Michael do it, Jin will understand more if Michael does it and he will feel less like his honour has been taken if the person he beat up for the watch frees him and gives him the watch.” Sun says. This surprisingly made a lot of sense to Greg so he let Sun talk to Michael. “Ow and promise me you wont tell anyone else that I speak English, please,” Sun says,
“Sorry what was that Sun, I don’t understand you because I don’t speak Korean,” Greg says allowed and winks at her. Sun smiles and walks off towards Michael.
As Greg walked down the beach to go see Sayid he saw Jack talking to a couple about something. Greg approaches him and the couple walks away from jack after saying goodbye. Greg then says,
“Welcome back Jack, brought some water?” Greg asks, Jack throws Greg a bottle of water which he takes a good drink out of.
“How’s the leg?” Jack says,
“Well it’s defiantly got a lot of exercise today. Not sure it is doing it any good thought running around after people. Never knew being sheriff of the beach meant literally running around the entire beach.” Greg chuckles, Jack smiles and says,
“I heard that Korean guy attacked Michael this morning,” Jack says,
“Yeah but I have finally sorted out the problem and Michael is going to apologise. Apparently he had Jin’s watch and so that he wasn’t being dishonourable decided to get it back by beating Michael up,” Greg says. Jack give him a confuse look which Greg sends back as neither could understand why doing such a thing would regain Jin’s honour.
“I see he was hand cuffed to the fuselage. No doubt your doing a presume,” Jack says, going by what Greg told him last night.
“Well I got it wrong this time. Maybe I should start letting people solve there own problems out until I know the full story,” Greg says,
“Sounds like a good plan to me,” Jack says smiling at Greg who smiles back. Then he says, “So, we found some caves out there whilst getting water that may be habitable. Fancy joining us up there?” Jack says,
“Sorry Jack but my friends are down here, and I don’t think they will want to move. And besides, someone’s got to keep the beach in check. And with Sawyer down here then the people are going to need someone like me to deal with him,” Greg chuckles, Jack chuckles with him and says,
“Well if you change you mind then your welcome at the caves anytime,” Jack says,
“Thanks Jack, I really appreciate it,” Greg says and they share a hand shake before Jack heads one way down the beach and Greg the other.
Greg is soon joined by Rachel, who is interested in what Greg has been up to,
“So, did you talk with Chris?” Rachel asks,
“Yes I did,” Greg says,
“And……” Rachel says,
“And he has the worst tragedy out of us both,” Greg says,
“What you mean he has had something worse happen to him that what you told me yesterday?” Rachel asks, Greg nods and Rachel’s jaw drops to the floor, “That must be some tragedy,” She continues after picking her jaw up.
“It sure is,” Greg says trying not to remember it too much as it was so sad.
“So, is he ok?” Rachel asks,
“Who?” Greg asks,
“Chris, why who did you think I meant?” Rachel asks,
“I thought you meant the Korean man,” Greg answers,
“Ow yeah I forgot about him. Did you find out why he did it?” Rachel asks,
“Yes, it turns out he wanted his watch back,” Greg answers,
“What?! He almost killed Michael, for a watch?!” Rachel shots, shocked,
“And his honour. It’s a long story,” Greg says,
“So how did you solve this one DC Young?” Rachel asks,
“It’s all in the detail Rachel, it’s all in the detail,” Greg said with an exuberant smile on his face.
“So is that Korean guy innocent then?” Rachel asks,
“Well, it’s hard to say. He did attack Michael but I do understand how much the Koreans honour there positions so I guess if Michael says its ok then I guess he is free to go,” Greg says,
“Ok, Ow I was talking to Charlie later today and he said that Jack was taking some people up to the caves and he asked if I wanted to come,” Rachel says,
“What did you say?” Greg asks hoping that she said no and that she wanted to stay here,
“I said that I would get back to him. I wanted to ask you to see whether you were staying or going. After all I would rather be here with you than in the caves without you,” Rachel says, flirting a little bit, making Greg blush.
“I am staying here. Someone’s got to keep the islanders from killing each other,” Greg chuckles, Rachel chuckles with him and she puts her arm around him and they head off down the beach together.

This will take a long time to read. 13 word pages long, lol I should maybe make them shorter but then that would cut out some of the bits that may be useful in understanding the rest. Anyway, here is the moth, with a very suprising ending.
The Moth
Greg stirred in his bed. He couldn’t sleep. Images of the women flashed before his eyes. Who was she? What did she want? Was he just imagining her? All these questions and no answers to them. How was he going to find out who she was? There had to be a way, it was driving him insane just thinking about it. He decided to go outside for some fresh air. As he stepped out of his tent the first thing he saw was the sea with its silver lining from the moon. Everyone else was asleep so it was very quiet and peaceful. There was a slight breeze that tickled the back of Greg’s neck. He started to walk down the beach not knowing where he was going and not caring where either. He saw someone in the distance, sitting on the beach, looking out to the sea. Greg decided to go see who it was and ask what they were doing out here.
As Greg approached he could see that it was a man.
“Hey there,” Greg says stopping as he reaches the man. The man turns to Greg and Greg could now see that it was Chris.
“Hey Greg, What brings you out here?” Chris asks,
“Couldn’t sleep, and you?” Greg asks back,
“Same,” Chris answers. Greg sits down next to Chris and rubs his hands together,
“Chilly night isn’t it,” Greg says, Chris chuckles and says,
“Yes it is,” Then they fall silent before Chris says, “So what were you thinking about?”
“Excuse me?” Greg asks,
“Well something must have been on your mind, stopping you sleeping. What was it?” Chris asks.
“You don’t want to know,” Greg says,
“Ow come on,” Chris says,
“No you will think I am crazy,” Greg says,
“Please,” Chris says back unwilling to let Greg get away without answering the question. Accepting defeat Greg sighs and says,
“I saw a woman in my tent the day……..” Greg says pausing as he realises what he was about to say,
“You know you can say it, it’s not like I am going to break down in tears every time I hear about it,” Chris says. Greg sighs and continues,
“The day Joanna drown……I saw a woman in my tent,” Greg says. Chris looked at Greg as if he was mad, “I knew you would think I was crazy,” Greg says standing up,
“No wait, this girl. How old was she, about?” Chris asks he seemed genuinely interested,
“Ummmmm…she was in her mid 20’s, why?” Greg asks,
“No reason,” Chris says shaking all thoughts of it being his sister out of his head.
“I don’t think I need to ask why your out here,” Greg says pointing to a framed photo in Chris’s hands.
“I realise that I was so wound up in the feelings that came back to me from my sisters death that I completely lost sight of the fact that she had died, Joanna, a human being was dead and I was too interested in myself!” Chris shouts but then goes quiet as him and Greg check to see if they woke anyone. Once it was safe to talk again Greg said,
“Don’t beat yourself up Chris. Whilst she was alive you and her were good friends. You gave her a reason to be happy, even though we crashed on a desert island. She spent her last days on earth with you, and that would have made her happier than you could ever have made her.” Greg says, Chris wipes some tears from his eyes and says,
“Thanks man, I really appreciated you talking to me,” Chris says,
“No problem Chris. Maybe I will be able to get some sleep at last,” Greg chuckles. Chris smiles back and Greg heads off back to his tent, with all thoughts of the woman to one side or now.
When Morning came, Greg woke up rather later than he usually did. Not that he could tell what time he normally woke up as his watch had stopped working. He walked out of his tent to find out if Rachel had ay more fruit or whether Locke had caught any boar recently when he spotted Kate and Jack talking. Chris was watching them as if he too didn’t trust Kate. Then again, how should he know that Kate was a criminal? This reminded Greg that Kate still owed him an explanation for why she had been hunted by a US Marshal. Greg decided to go talk to Chris just to check if he did know anything about Kate’s past.
“Morning Chris!” Greg shouts. Chris’s head snaps him Greg’s direction and he gives him a cold glare before turning back to Jack and Kate who were looking at him in the same way.
“Just taking a walk along the beach!” Chris shouts to Jack and Kate who turn back to each other after rolling there eyes at the bad cover up.
“What was all that about?” Greg asks,
“I was trying to keep a close eye on Jack and Kate. That is until you cam and ruined it,” Chris snaps,
“Someone didn’t get enough sleep did they?” Greg says,
“Look I am sorry but stuff has been on my mind,” Chris says,
“Like?” Greg asks wondering if this was the time Chris would tell him that he knew Kate was a criminal.
“Its none of your business, just stuff, so just leave it will you!” Chris shouts storming past Greg but it wasn’t long before he stopped again as Sawyer arrives at Jack and Kate.
“Now, that either means that it’s something really personal, or it’s about me and he won’t tell me. Either way I have my own problems, like what to do with miss Austin over there,” Greg says to himself as he watches Sawyer, Jack and Kate talking. Sawyer seemed to drop his bags down by the medical tent, obviously because he wanted to move in there as his tent was rather weak. Either that or he wanted to check it to see if Jack had accidentally left some stuff in there for him to add to his collection of goods. Kate says something to sawyer and then Sawyer makes some sort of sly comment as Jack then disappears with some bags, leaving Sawyer and Kate alone. However it isn’t long before Kate takes a leap out of Jacks book and walks away from Sawyer, rolling her eyes. Now was Greg’s chance as Kate was going on some sort of expedition with Sayid. Greg didn’t know what for but he overheard Hurley mentioning it to Scot and Arzt. He was about to approach Kate when Chris shouted to her which made her look over to him.
“Damn it,” Greg curses as he knows now that he wont get a word in to Kate unless he buts into there conversation. Greg then spots Sayid watching Kate and Chris so decides to go talk to him.
“Hey Sayid,” Greg says as he approaches Sayid,
“Hello there…” Sayid starts, Greg realises that he hadn’t given Sayid his name,
“Sorry, I’m Greg.” Greg apologises,
“What do you want Greg?” Sayid asks,
“You presume I want something,” Greg says,
“Otherwise why else would you approach me in such a way?” Sayid says,
“Just to say that your plan sounds good,” Greg says,
“Kate told you about the plan?!” Sayid says before giving Kate a cold glare which she takes in and send a sorry one back.
“Well it’s kind of the talk of the beach, especially with Charlie knowing and all,” Greg says. Sayid sighs and says,
“Well we don’t need any more people. 3 is enough,”
“Ow I didn’t want to come. I just wanted to ask you if Chris has told you anything, you know, secret stuff?” Greg says,
“Chris?” Sayid says,
“Yeah that Scottish guy, over there,” Greg says pointing to Chris who was still talking to Kate.
“Even if he did I wouldn’t tell you,” Sayid says smiling,
“Which means that he hasn’t,” Greg chuckles, Sayid nods and walks past Greg towards Kate who had finished,
“Ow and Michael set Jin free. Apparently it was a misunderstanding. Jin just wanted his watch back.” Sayid says,
“Yes I know, I solved it a bit too late as Michael had already cut Jin loose,” Greg says back,
“Talk about being lost in translation ey?” Sayid chuckles,
“Yeah,” Greg chuckles with Sayid before Sayid turns back to Kate and Chris and started talking to them. Greg watched them for a few minutes before his stomach started to growl which meant only one thing. He had to find Rachel and see if she had any fruit.
As Greg walked down the beach his eyes lit up as he saw the one person he was desperate to find, Rachel. He started to run over to her but got a large, sharp stinging pain in his leg so slowed down.
“RACHEL!!!” He shouts hoping she could hear him. She turned to look at him and when she saw him her face too lit up. “Hey,” Greg said when he reached her trying to catch his breath back,
“You know you should run with your leg still injured,” Rachel advised,
“I know but Jack took the stitch out this morning before he disappeared and he said it looked ok and the medical advice of a spinal surgeon is worth listening to,” Greg said smiling at the answer he had gotten from Jack.
“Ow so now Jack has said your leg is doing fine you listen to him,” Rachel chuckles,
“Something like that,” Greg chuckles back. There was a long pause as both tried to think of something else to say, although Greg had forgotten why he actually caught up to Rachel as he was having so much fun talking to her that he had completely ignored his stomach.
“So, what do you want?” Rachel asks,
“What?” Greg said trying to figure out what h wanted to talk to her about,
“Well usually when you run up the beach like that and scream there name at the top of your lungs it’s usually because you want to talk to them about something important,” Rachel said,
“Ow, Yeah……right……errrrr… ow, I wanted to ask you if you wouldn’t mind taking me along with you on the fruit hunt as I am starving,” Greg says finally remembering what he wanted to ask.
“Sure you can come along; it’s a two person job anyway. I don’t think I could both throw and catch the fruit. I was going to ask Charlie if he wanted to come with me but he is at the caves, I asked Shannon but she ‘doesn’t do’ fruit picking. Chris seems to be more interested in talking to Kate and the plan so I was just going to try and do it by myself,” Rachel explains,
“Great, thanks, I will make sure I do a good job,” Greg says excited about finally getting some fruit to eat.
“Great, lets go then,” Rachel says and they both head of into the jungle with a rucksack.
In the Jungle Rachel and Greg reach the fruit trees and Greg is the first to rush up to one.
“Ok, I’ll climb up and you get ready to catch the fruit,” Greg says ready to take a run up,
“But wait what about your…..” Rachel starts but it was too late to stop him as Greg had already rushed towards the tree and jumped for the lowest branch. However the branch was not strong enough for Greg’s weight and it snapped as soon as Greg got hold of it, sending him crashing to the ground. Greg hit his head and fell unconscious.
When Greg woke up he was laying on the floor underneath the tree. The broken branch was beside him but Rachel was not. Greg’s head was killing him and his back hurt too.
“That’s just sods law isn’t it,” Greg cursed to himself as he touches his bruised side and instantly feels the pain. “Rachel!” Greg shouts hoping that she had just gone to get help or something but there was no answer. Instead there was a rustling in the bushes beside Greg. “Rachel?” Greg says hoping that it was her but reaches for his empty gun just in case it wasn’t. As he feels around his holster he finds that his gun is missing. He lifts up his shirt and looks at his holster but his hands didn’t lie, his gun was indeed missing. He sits up which was very painful and looks around him, hoping that it had just fallen out but it wasn’t around him. The rustling continued next to him but Greg had ignored it until now. He hoped it wasn’t a boar but then realises that if it was then it would have attacked him by now. The more Greg thought about what it was the more scared he became. Then the rustling stopped and was replaced by an even scarier sound. Greg could hear whispers all around him; they started quiet but slowly became louder. The scariest thing was Greg had heard them before, with Chris when they went boar hunting together. Greg grabbed the broken branch next to him and forced himself up to standing which was unbearably painful. Looking around frantically he spun around several times to try and work out what they were saying. Greg didn’t realise that it would get a whole lot scarier as he spun round back to where the bush had rustled before and saw a horrifying sight.
Standing a few feet in front of him was her, the woman he had seen in his tent 3 days before. The whispers had stopped as soon as Greg saw her. Greg rubbed his eyes and even slapped himself a few times to try and believe what he was seeing but the woman was still there, even after his efforts to try and discard it as a hallucination. Breathing heavily, Greg stepped forward to the woman, in too much shock to make her out as anyone he had seen before. As Greg stepped forward the woman turned around and headed off into the bushes. As she disappeared through the bushes Greg snapped back into reality and tried to follow her. However as Greg reached the bushes a polar bear face roared towards him, scaring the living daylights out of Greg and sending him backwards where he fell back onto the floor where he lay.
“Greg, Greg are you alright?” a voiced called to Greg. Greg could hear the voice faintly as he tried to find out where he was. Everything was dark and he could feel something beneath him. Greg then opened his eyes and saw blurry green things above him. As his eyes adjusted to the light he saw that they were leaves on the trees which he was looking up at. Greg moved his hands which were by his side and scratched at something soft. Greg brought the hand up to his eyes view as he couldn’t turn his head to look at it and saw that it was dirt. He placed his hand back down and a blurred figure appeared inform of him. It was a woman and she was calling his name. Greg tried to speak but the words got stuck in his throat and when they finally came out it was more of a groan than anything else. “Greg, can you hear me? It’s Rachel, please wake up,” The figure sobbed. Greg closed his eyes and reopened then to see clearly the figure was indeed Rachel.
“Ra….ch…” Greg started,
“Yes, it’s me, Rachel!” Rachel shouted with joy. It was then that Greg realised what had happened. He had fallen out of the tree and had banged his head. But the stuff that came after that, with the whispers, the woman and the polar bear he didn’t know whether they happened or not. He didn’t want to think about them right now, all he really wanted to think about was whether he was alright.
“He-help, m-m-me, up,” Greg said still a bit shaken by his fall. Rachel went round to Greg’s head an put her arm under his armpits and then pulled him up. She then picked up the branch that had broken off and gave it to him,
“Use this,” Rachel said with an urgent tone in her voice. She then put his arm around her and helped him and they were about to walk back to amp when Greg searched his holster for his gun, to make sure it was only a dream but found that just like in the dream, his gun was missing and as he looked back at the spot he had been laying, he found that it wasn’t there either. He gulped as the realism of the fall was looking less realistic and more like the whole dream he had had was actually true after all.
As they camp towards the camp, Greg felt much better. His side was bruised, he had a huge head ache and he was suffering from shock but other than that he was ok. As Rachel and he came into camp everyone had decided to stay at the beach instead of move to the caves came to see what had happened.
“What happened?” Kate asks,
“Ah Kate, You still owe me that talk,” Greg says,
“Yeah and I asked you what happened,” Kate says, trying to make out like the talk wasn’t such a big deal.
“He fell out of a tree, hit his head pretty bad,” Rachel says trying to get Greg through the crowds,
“I’ll help you,” The woman with the annoying voice said putting Greg’s other arm over her shoulder.
“It’s about time someone knocked a bit of sense into him, shame the tree beat me to it,” Sawyer chuckles. The rest of the survivors stay silent. Rachel however had other plans. She let go of her side of Greg and let the other woman continue with Greg. She then marched up to Sawyer and shouted,
“You think this is funny?! You think that someone falling out of a tree is something to laugh about?! Greg could have concussion! He could be seriously injured! And all you care about is making your little jokes about it! You make me sick!”
“Yeah, I never said anyone falling out of a tree would be funny, but I make the exception when it’s Greg,” Sawyer chuckles but Rachel had had enough. She threw a punch at Sawyer which caught him off guard and sent him backwards where he tripped and fell on the floor. “You B**ch!” Sawyer shouts,
“Someone had to knock some sense into you, especially since neither Greg or Chris are here,” Rachel sobs before going to Greg’s tent where the woman had put Greg.
At Greg’s tent, Greg was talking to the woman, who had helped him there,
“Thanks for helping me here,” Greg said
“Don’t mention it,” The woman said back,
“No I really appreciate it, especially since I said all of those nasty things to you,” Greg said,
“What nasty things?” The woman asks,
“Well I didn’t say anything about you but all of my comments have always seemed to be directed at you, I’m sorry,” Greg said,
“Its ok, really,” The woman said,
“Ok so were cool,” Greg said
“Yeah we’re cool,” The woman chuckles, Greg chuckles with her but cuts off to ay,
“So, do you have a name?”
“Yeah, It’s Nikki,” The woman called Nikki says,
“Ok Nikki, I’m Greg,” Greg says putting his hand out,
“I kinda already knew that but it’s nice to meet you Greg,” Nikki says shaking the hand. Suddenly Rachel comes in and Greg and Nikki quickly break hands and Nikki stands up and rushes out.
“Hey,” Rachel says softly,
“Hey,” Greg says back, equally as softly.
“How do you feel?” Rachel asks,
“Like I got hit by a train, twice.” Greg chuckles,
“I see you haven’t lost your sense of humour,” Rachel chuckles,
“I could get hit by several trains and I still wouldn’t loose it,” Greg chuckles.
“Seriously, Does it hurt anywhere?” Rachel asks,
“Are you the new Jack?” Greg asks,
“Yeah I guess I am,” Rachel chuckles,
“Ok Rachel, listen up, I have a head ache the size of Russia, my side is bruised all the colours of the rainbow and I am freaked out beyond your wildest dreams,” Greg said,
“What about?” Rachel asks,
“What do you mean?” Greg asks back,
“You said you were freaked out, you mind telling me what about?” Rachel asks,
“It’s a bit weird, you wouldn’t understand,” Greg says,
“Try me,” Rachel says,
“I…..I can’t, I don’t even know if it was real or not,” Greg says refusing to share.
“Greg if you don’t tell me then…..” Rachel starts,
“Then what! You are no psychiatrist; you can’t make these thoughts go away. No one can but me!” Greg snaps. Rachel was taken back by the outburst and her eyes filled with tears as she stood up and headed out. It took Greg a few seconds to realise what he had done but by that time Rachel had already gone. “I wish I knew how to fix this, but I can’t. And I am the only one who can,” Greg says to himself and he brings his knee’s close to him and rocks gently backwards and forwards for comfort.
After trying to get to sleep and having numerous visitors waking him up, which Greg stayed up to talk to as he is nice like that, Greg decided to go seek out doctor Jack. He was about to get up when he got another visitor only this one was well worth staying for, it was Claire, and she had brought him some fruit and a bottle of water.
“Hey,” Claire said poking her head through the door of Greg’s tent as she always did,
“Hey Claire, come on in,” Greg said greeting Claire into his tent. Claire entered the tent and sat down at the other end of the tent as so not to disturb Greg.
“How do you feel?” Claire asks,
“I would say like I got hit by a train but I used that one on Rachel,” Greg chuckles. Claire smiles and says,
“So pretty rough ey?” Greg nods as he drinks some water from the bottle, which is almost empty when he puts it back down. “You must have been thirsty?” Claire asks,
“You have no idea,” Greg says now taking a big bite out of an apple. He then says, “So, how’s the baby?” as he still finishes the mouthful of apple.
“He’s ok, he’s moving around a lot which must mean he is healthy,” Claire says.
“Yeah I am sure he is,” Greg says. There was an awkward pause before Greg says,
“I heard that the heat got to you the day Joanna drown,”
“It was nothing,” Claire says,
“I heard you collapsed on the sand and had to be taken to the infirmary tent. Tell me how that makes you fine?” Greg asks,
“The heat just got to me, I felt a bit dizzy and collapsed, but I was fine when I woke up,” Claire explains.
“There was no water that day, Boone took it all. The only thing that you needed most after suffering something like that was taken away from you.” Greg says trying to point out to Claire the seriousness of the event.
“Boone did give me some water when everyone had calmed down. He said he was sorry and didn’t mean for it to get so out of hand.” Claire said,
“Yeah that’s when Charlie made Boone look like a common criminal and almost beat him to a pulp,” Greg said,
“Charlie? No he said it was you who wanted to beat him to a pulp. He said you tortured him in Sawyers chair.” Claire explained. Greg was shocked and angry at what Charlie had told Claire, however this was neither the time nor the place to get angry at him.
“I can asure you Claire that all of my actions were all humane. I wont lie to you, I was angry at Boone for taking the water in the first place, but I never tortured him. I just had a few words with him. As for Charlie well he was the one that went berserk.” Greg explains,
“I thought you wouldn’t do such a thing like that,” Claire smiles, obviously on his side on this one. There was a long pause before Greg changed the subject to something Claire may be interested in so that she would stay.
“So……you and Charlie….you seem…..close,”
“We’re just friends,” Claire says,
“Sure, now you are just friends, but trust me Claire, If you would have seen his little face light up when you said that you weren’t married, then you would think otherwise,” Greg explains,
“Charlie’s a great guy. He’s funny, helpful, kind. I could do with a lot of friends here Greg. Because I am so scared, not for me but for my baby too,” Claire said looking at her stomach.
“You have plenty of friends here, even some like Charlie who would risk there lives to save you and the baby. Your not alone Claire, none of us are, we rely on each other so that we can survive together.” Greg said,
“Are you one of those people?” Claire asks,
“One of what people?” Greg asks back,
“One of the people who would risk there life to save mine?” Claire asks again, Greg seemed shocked by the question as the answer was hard to say,
“Well…..errrr…I mean, I would try to save anyone’s life but……” Greg stutters trying to avoid saying it but he sighs, takes Claire’s hands and holds them and says, “Yes Claire, I am one of those friends,” And he smiles at her. She smiles back and says,
“Thank you,”
“For what?” Greg asks,
“For not looking at me differently, you know, like I am going to explode or something,” Claire says,
“It’s ok Claire, because I know how hard it must be, going somewhere where no one knows you and being stared at like you are some freak. I have been there and done that and it doesn’t get any easier. The best thing to do Claire is to be yourself, because that’s all you can do Claire.” Greg says. Claire smiles at him and he smiles back.
“Ok, well I had better go, I don’t want to disturb you any more that I already have,” Claire says trying to get up,
“Here let me help you,” Greg says trying to get himself up too,
“No, I am fine, really.” Claire says stopping Greg from getting up. Claire manages to get up and goes to the door of Greg’s tent. Then stops and turns around and says,
“Thank you,” Before heading out of the tent and off down the beach. Greg felt glad that Claire had come to visit him and sat back and relaxed. He remembered the day he had felt exactly like Claire, going to a new place where no one knew you.
In a flashback, Greg was sat in an airport bar. He had just arrived in Sydney, Australia and was building up the courage to leave the airport and officially arrive in Sydney. Greg was trying to forget about all he left behind, as it would only hold him back. He had left because of her, so he didn’t want her holding him from what could be the best thing he had ever done. The job that was waiting for Greg in Sydney police department was the kind of job he had wished for. It paid better than what he had in Cardiff. However coming to a new place scared Greg. Not because he was scared of what people would make of him, but that he would forget about what he had back in Cardiff. As much as he wanted to forget it scared him that if he did forget then he may never get her back, he may never be able to hold her in his arms. They had left on back terms and he had felt so angry then but being in a new place scared him and what made it worse was he had no one to hold him an tell him that it would be alright and not to be scared.
Finally, after drinking half a pint of beer, Greg was ready to face Australia and finally ready to forget about her and his life in Cardiff. He stepped out of the airport and felt the earth under his feet was different. Although it looked exactly like the pavements in Cardiff it felt as if Greg was taking a huge step into the unknown, like Neil Armstrong when he took his first step on the moon. Greg took a deep breath and started to walk down the streets of Sydney. People turned and looked at him as he went past like he wasn’t to be trusted. They would avoid him on the sidewalk and give him dirty looks like they knew everything bad he had done and were judging him in that alone. Feeling insecure Greg walked into the road. Greg was too busy watching people stare at him that he had no idea a car was coming and it almost hit him but he felt a force pull him backwards and he fell on something. Greg stood up and brushed the dirt off himself. As he did his eyes were drawn to someone on the floor. As he turned his head towards the person he saw that it was a woman. Then it hit Greg, this woman had saved her life.
“Here, let me help you,” Greg says holding out his arm to the woman. The woman grabbed it and Greg pulled her up.
“Thanks,” The woman said brushing the dirt off her skirt,
“I think it’s me who should be thanking you, after all, you did save my life,” Greg said back,
“Well if not you then some other guy would have done it, it’s quite often around here,” The woman said pointing out the amount of traffic that was about. This would have been because it was where the airport was.
“Well thanks anyway,” Greg said staring at the woman and for the first time, since he had fell on top of her, realising how beautiful she was. She was in her mid 20’s and had dyed, jet black, shoulder length hair that gleamed in the sun and her ice blue eyes went straight though him, making him feel oddly warm. She was quite small, coming up at around 5 feet all as appose to Greg being 5 feet 9 inches tall. She had a cute button nose and her cheeks were triangular as they met at her chin. Her lips were full, red and large, almost taunting Greg. She had blue eye shadow on which highlighted her eyes perfectly. The woman gave him an odd look as he had said nothing for quite a while and then said,
“Your not from around here are you?” Greg snapped back to reality and hadn’t listened to the question.
“Errrmmmm….oh….errrrr, sorry I was miles away, could you repeat the question please,” Greg said, the woman giggled, which confused Greg was most woman would have bit his head of for not paying attention. The woman then said,
“Sure. Your not from Australia are you?”
“What gave me away,” Greg chuckled, his quite obvious British accent with a slight Yorkshire accent mixed in and his total oblivious behaviour to where he was or where he was going. The woman giggles again and says,
“I’m Helen,”
“And would Helen have a last name,” Greg said,
“Yes, she would, but she isn’t speaking another word until the guy with the nice ass and the gun tells her his name,” the woman who was called Helen said. Greg was taken back by how she knew he had a gun. He had hidden it pretty well and his facial expressions didn’t give it away. However he thought he would ask her later and he said,
“My name is Greg Young, now Helen, you mind telling me your last name,” Greg says,
“It’s Stanton, Helen Stanton,” Helen said,
“Helen Stanton, nice name. But how did you know I had a……..gun,” Greg said, whispering the word gun so he didn’t draw attention to the fact that he did.
“I have a way of knowing what people carry around with them when they fall on top of me,” Helen joked, Greg smiled and shook his head and said,
“Ok you got me,”
“So are you a cop or something?” Helen said,
“I used to be, in Cardiff. Which is why I don’t want to highlight the fact I have a gun as since I am not a cop yet in Australia I don’t actually have permission to carry a firearm around and so am breaking the law just by standing here,” Greg said in an almost whisper,
“Don’t worry, I wont tell anyone. On one condition,” Helen says,
“Name it,” Greg said, quite relieved that Helen wasn’t going to tell anyone.
“You accompany me to my apartment. After all, the streets of Sydney are quite rough around this time,” Helen said,
“Sure, hey maybe I could find an apartment in your building. I could do with somewhere to stay,” Greg says,
“That’s lucky! An old guy in my building just died. He lives just down the hall to me,” Helen said excited of the prospects of Greg living in her building, aside the fact that she had just met him.
“That’s terrible, well the apartment is great but the old guy dieing is sad,” Greg says showing a bit of respect for the old man.
“Meh, he was a grumpy old sod. I can’t wait, come I’ll show you around!” Helen screeched, almost too excited to lower her voice so that all of Sydney couldn’t here her and she dragged Greg down the street and off towards a large building towards the centre of town.
Back at the beach, Greg woke up and realised he had fallen asleep. He jerked up to sitting and all the blood rushed from his head, making his headache a whole lot worse. He screwed his eyes up to block out the pain and lay back down.
“How long have I been asleep?” He asks himself hoping that someone would come in and tell him how long he had been asleep. However no one came in. No one to check on him, no one to bring him some more water or some fruit, no one to talk to, everything was silent. Greg became scared, the silence was too suspicious. Greg got more scared by each passing moment, his nerves twitched as he called out,
“Rachel! Claire! Anyone!” but he got no reply. Greg pulled himself up and noticed that the pain in his side was subsiding. Although that wasn’t the main concern of Greg right now. Taking a deep breath Greg stepped outside his tent onto the beach.
As he came out of his tent he was half expecting loads of people to rush up to him and push him back into the tent and tell him he shouldn’t be out. However the silence had not been for nothing, as there was no one on the beach to make any noise. Greg could see a few people around the beach but most were too busy fishing or sorting out clothes to notice him.
“Where is everyone?” Greg said to himself again before walking forward and stubbing his toe on something,
“Damn it, I wish people would put stuff……” Greg started very annoyed before he turned white and his eyes narrowed. As get looked down at the floor, he could see that he had banged his toe on a rock. But this rock was not alone; there were many other rocks around it, all black and all placed together to make a message. The first thing Greg did before he read it was to look around to see who could have done it. All seemed too busy to be writing messages to him with rocks so Greg hoped tat the message itself would tell him who had done it, the thing that scared Greg the most was that it did just that without even mentioning the name. The message red:
I am watching you, Greg
Greg’s heart pounded faster and faster as he stared at the message. Sweat ran down the side of his head and he shuddered at the thoughts of it being her. Suddenly rage filled his body and he started to destroy the message, picking up the rocks and throwing them around in a blind rage, hoping that it would make the thoughts go away. Greg then fell to his knees and put his head in his hands and started to cry. Why was she doing this? Why him? Greg tried to make sense of it all but he couldn’t. Suddenly Greg heard a rustling in the bushes a few yards away from him. He lifted his head up and snaps in the direction of the noise. There was the woman again, the one Greg had seen in his tent when Joanna died and when he fell out of the tree. Now she was standing there, watching him like she said she was. But why?
Greg composed himself and wiped the last of his tears away before standing up and saying in a slight whisper,
“Why me?” The woman then smiled a bone chilling smile before turning around slowly and heading off into the forest. Greg watched her go into the forest and then chased after her, hoping that he could catch her and ask her why she was doing this to him.
Greg rushed through the jungle, eyes fixed on the woman a few yards in front of him. Although she was walking she seemed to be moving faster than he could catch her. Every time he thought he was getting close she would be further away than she was before. Greg wheezed as he started to get out of breath. His fast pace jog had slowed to a stumbling mess as he tried to compose himself after tripping over every root and rock he came across. A root finally got the better of Greg and toppled him. Greg rolled sideways and down a slope and hit the hard, dusty ground at the bottom, front down.
Greg lifted his head up and his heavy breathing blew the dust from the ground up into his face. Greg forced himself up and coughed heavily in an attempt to clear his throat from the dust. The woman was gone, Greg had lost her, and now it seemed like she was playing with him, using his desire to chase her to make fun of him and embarrass him. Kate called it a white rabbit, something that someone had to chase but can never catch, and instead get themselves into a lot of trouble. Greg had always thought that there was nothing he needed to chase, nothing that would make him want to chase. But now he seemed more aware that he had himself a white rabbit. Only difference was Greg couldn’t stop chasing it, even if it killed him, or worse.
Greg stood up and brushed the dust off him before looking around to see where he was. Chasing the woman into the jungle had gotten Greg lost. He had no idea where he was, not that he did know where he was to start with but now he was lost in the jungle and didn’t know how to get back to camp. Greg spun around frantically, hoping Locke would appear after being on a boar hunt but there was no Locke. Greg then started to walk, not in any particular direction he just walked, hoping it would lead him back to camp or in someone’s path who knew where they were. Greg got the feeling that he was being watched, and since the woman said she was watching him, Greg didn’t feel at all walking through the jungle, especially when night quickly approached as the sun dived behind the mountains. Greg pace quickened as being alone at night in the jungle was not very nice. Although Greg had never experienced it the thought of hi being alone in the dark jungle scared him enough to make him tart into a jog. As Greg jogged through the jungle he felt like he wasn’t going fast enough so suddenly burst out into a sprint through the jungle. Greg burst through the bushes, making a lot of noise but he didn’t care why should he? Suddenly Greg slowed down as he was out of breath; he had a stitch and needed some water, only problem was he didn’t have any.
Thirsty, out of breath and scared, Greg didn’t know what to do. He decided to sit down for a while to see if that would help. However after a minute of sitting down he hears rustling in the bushes in front of him. Standing up fast, Greg reached for his gun hoping he could scare whatever was there away but remembered as he felt around his holster that he had lost it. Greg was now Thirsty, tired, scared and defenceless unless a bear or a boar would stand still and let him box it to death. Greg moved back as whatever was in there seemed to get closer and closer to him. All Greg could do was watch as something emerged from the bushes.
Greg’s eyes widened as he gazed upon what had just emerged from the bushes,
“Chris?” Greg said staring at the Scottish man who held a knife in his hand with a very determined but quite scared look on his face.
“Jesus Christ Greg, you scared the life out of me there,” Chris said still waving the knife at Greg,
“Yes well I would like to say I did it on purpose but the fact is you scared me too. And will you quit waving that thing at me,” Greg said to Chris which made him put the knife away.
“What the bloody hell are you doing out here at this time?” Chris asks,
“I could ask you the same question,” Greg says eager to here Chris’s story as much as Chris was to hear his. Then they went silent and smiled at each other,
“I bet we were both out here for the same reason you know,” Chris says,
“And what would that reason be?” Greg asks,
“We are both looking for something that cannot be found,” Chris answers,
“A white rabbit,” Greg says which Chris nods to, indicating that it is what he meant. Greg sighs and takes a deep breath before saying. “Say, you haven’t got any water on you, I am as dry as a desert here,” Greg says, making Chris chuckle and throw him some water. Greg takes a large gulp of the water and hands the empty bottle back to Chris.
“So, did you here about the cave collapse?” Chris says as eager as Greg was o get off the topic of the white rabbits.
“Ow my god, really! Is anyone hurt, is Rachel ok? And Claire?” Greg says worryingly and in a lot of shock,
“There fine, although Jack is stuck in there and we don’t know if he is dead or not. And Charlie has gone in after him.” Chris said. Greg felt immediately sorry for what he had said about Charlie to Claire. Charlie was a good guy, funny and good friends with Claire. Greg felt like he needed to help them and so followed Chris to the caves.
Neither were in a real rush, they knew that the others would be helping out. That’s why the beach was so empty. They had plenty of hands at the caves so Greg and Chris were calm, safe in the knowledge that everyone was helping.
“I spoke with Locke earlier. He said that some white rabbits will sometimes lead people to stuff, special stuff. He said that Jack too was following a white rabbit and it leads him to the water. And I…..” Chris started but was cut off by Greg,
“I wish my white rabbit would lead me to stuff other than steep slops and things that are likely to cause me harm than any good. Speaking of finding stuff, have you seen a gun lying around the jungle floor?” Greg asks. Chris looked at Greg rather oddly like it was a totally random thing to come out with. However, Chris just had to ask,
“Why?”
“Because I lost my gun whilst I was out in the jungle. I didn’t notice it missing until late this morning. Must have lost it when we were boar hunting and since you have been out here all day I thought you would know,” Greg says, Chris pulled down his T-shirt and said,
“No, I haven’t,” without even looking at Greg. Greg was too exhausted to make anything of it so just left it. The last thing he wanted was to argue with a man with a knife.
The two arrived at the caves late as Jack and Charlie were out of the rubble which the others were moving aside. They were very dirty and looked very shaken up but they were alive, and that was all that mattered. As Jack walked past Greg, being helped by Kate, he couldn’t help but have a little go at Greg,
“Why are you out of you bed?” Jack croaked,
“A cave falls on top of you and you still have enough energy to say that,” Greg chuckles. Jack chuckles with him which starts a coughing fit from the doctor, forcing Kate to quickly take Jack to the new infirmary in the caves for some water and a good clean up. Greg looks over at the people moving the rubble and notices Rachel with them, however some else catches Greg’s eye and he looks in the direction of the out of place person. It was the woman who Greg had been seeing for while now. Her clothes were clean and stared at him. All the other survivors just seemed to ignore her, like she wasn’t there, which she wasn’t, only Greg could see her, his very own white rabbit. The woman gave Greg a chilling smile before making a gun gesture with her fingers and pointing then and Greg. Then she pretends to fire something at Greg which he soon realises wasn’t as pretend as he first interpreted it. He felt a chill burst over his body and he felt immediately drained. His head pounded and he felt dizzy. He turned around slowly to see Chris behind him with a worried look on his face. He hears a muffled,
“Greg, are you alright,” from the Scotsman before Greg collapsed and blacked out.

Lol I am writing some pritty long episodes but that means they have to be good right? well enjoy the confidence man, I change this one alot, especially towards the end so it still may sound like the emotions of tyhe charicters are changing a lot but heck its a very confusing time and you will probably just ignore them. Anyway, enough of my rambling lets get on with the show!
Confidence man
Greg woke up and found himself staring at the roof of his tent. He sat up and looked around him. He tried to remember what had happened as he didn’t remember coming to his tent, the last thing he remembered was seeing her. Then it all flooded back to him, how he had seen the woman make some sort of gun gesture with her hands before he had blacked out. It had been odd as the more he thought about it the more it seemed she was trying to tell him something
Suddenly a blinding light burst through the doorway if his tent which was soon blocked by a figure who Greg couldn’t see as his eyes were adjusting to the sudden burst of light.
“Hey, how are you?” A familiar voice said. Greg immediately knew who it was even before they entered the tent but the person entered and sat down, enabling Greg to see them fully.
“I’m fine, thanks Rachel,” Greg said rubbing his eyes and yawning.
“So your well enough to come for a swim then?” Rachel asks. Greg had been fearful of the water ever since he had witnessed Joanna’s unexpected death. Joanna seemed to be a very good swimmer and the sea had taken her life. However Greg would have to start exercising at some time, otherwise he would start to become weak which wouldn’t be the best thing. He had already felt the signs of him becoming unfit as he got out of breath quicker when he ran and by the end of the day he was always knackered and always slept in longer than he wanted to.
”Aye, I think I can manage a quick swim.” Greg said,
“Great I will meet you by the sea just outside your tent then,” Rachel said jumping up and going out of the tent.
“Yep, all it takes is the right encouragement,” Greg said as he watched Rachel rush off to the sea edge to wait for him.
Greg got up and felt immediately energised, which was surprising as he hadn’t felt like that in a long time. Greg had been prone to injury a lot lately. Whether it had anything to do with what Kate said about white rabbits always leading there victims astray, or whether it was just because Greg was too eager for his own good, Greg knew that he would have to be more careful before he did himself a huge injury.
As Greg got dressed he noticed that the cut on his leg, which he had sustained whilst trying to prove to Chris that he was better at catching boar than Chris was and was proved wrong by the boar, was free from infection and was healing quite well. Greg hadn’t noticed it in a while which must mean that it was getting better. The bruising on Greg’s side was still very colourful but the pain had subsided a lot. Greg’s headache had gone after a lot of water and a good night’s sleep and whatever the woman did to him in the caves had completely disappeared as if she had done nothing and Greg had just overreacted.
Greg met Rachel by the sea which she immediately noticed all of the injuries Greg had sustained seemed to be getting better.
“Hey! Your leg is looking a lot better now, and you don’t seem as tipsy as you used to,” Rachel said,
“You do have a way of making a sober man seem like a drunk don’t you,” Greg chuckles. Rachel giggles and they hold hands as they head towards the sea.
Greg and Rachel get talking about stuff but Greg doesn’t once mention the woman or the weird dreams he was having which would involve the woman a lot in them. He stuck to what he knew wouldn’t make her worry about him, basically nothing about himself. He asked her whether she had seen his gun lying around which she seemed to be as clueless as he was. He also asked her whether she knew what Chris was hiding from him, the big secret but she hadn’t seen Chris since he disappeared into the jungle yesterday morning. They did have a chat about the caves and the collapse. Greg didn’t like the caves as it seemed that they were no safer than the beach, especially after the cave collapse. Greg was just glad neither he nor Rachel were there. The further Greg and Rachel seemed to get from the topic of Chris, the closer to the topic they actually got until Rachel came out with.
“I am worried about Chris Greg,”
“What do you mean?” Greg asks slightly confused by what she meant.
“Well, he keeps disappearing into the jungle and doesn’t tell anyone. I visited his tent this morning to see if I could get him into the water, maybe try and teach him how to swim. But He wasn’t there, and neither was his rucksack and his supply of water and fruit was gone too.” Rachel said in a worrying tone.
“I am sure he just went for a walk,” Greg said trying to find an easy answer to it all.
“Yes but how far has he decided to walk, and how long has he decided to stop walking once he has reached his destination,” Rachel said in a complete riddle to Greg,
“Sorry but what are you trying to Rachel?” Greg asks,
“I am saying that what if Chris has decided to move to the caves,” Rachel answered looking as if she was about to cry. Greg looked around him, rather uncomfortable that she would be crying over Chris. However Greg turns back to her and says,
“Chris couldn’t have moved to the caves,”
“Why?” Rachel said intrigued to hear how Greg thought such a thing,
“Because he is right over there,” Greg said pointing to the shoreline where Chris was with his rucksack, waving to them and shouting.
“Chris!” Rachel shouts swimming back to the shore, shortly followed by Greg. Rachel rushes towards Chris who drops his bag as Rachel bursts towards him and hugs him wildly.
“Calm down Rachel I haven’t been gone that long,” Chris says smiling. Rachel’s smile faded fast and she pushes him away from her as a frown comes across her face.
“Where the hell have you been?! I have been worried sick!” She shouts,
“Well I am glad someone worried about me but I have just been to get some water from the caves,” Chris said,
“And you didn’t think to tell anyone you were going?!” Rachel shouts still angry with Chris,
“I am sure you wouldn’t’ have wanted to be woken up in the early hours of this morning just for me to tell you that I was going to the caves for some water,” Chris says,
“It beats me being worried sick about you all morning,” Rachel says calming down slightly.
“Ok, I am sorry; I just needed to clear my head. I won’t disappear without telling anyone again ok,” Chris says wiping a tear that trickled down Rachel’s face. Rachel smiles and looks up at Chris who smiles back and they both hug each other again. Greg coughs to let them know that he was still there which makes them break off and look at him.
“Now that we know that our favourite Scotsman is safe, let’s go get some boar and have breakfast together,” Greg says. Greg and Rachel start walking to the food supply but Chris stops him.
“I need to talk with you about something, alone,” Chris says looking over at Rachel who had turned around to see what Chris wanted to talk to Greg about.
“Go on ahead Rachel. It wont take long,” Greg says and then turns back to Chris and says, “Ok so what is it hat you want to talk to me about Chris?” Greg asks.
“I have something to show you, in the jungle.” Chris says not revealing anything more than he needed to. Greg’s eyes widened as he knew that this was either the big secret Chris had been keeping or Chris had found his gun.
“Ok so show it to me,” Greg said excited.
“Ok but I don’t have it with me. I don’t think I could carry it with me. It’s still in the jungle, but I will take you to it.” Chris says, Greg’s exuberant smile turns to a neutral line as he realises that it couldn’t be his gun unless Chris was either waiting until they were in the jungle to show it to him or he had left I there whilst wondering what to do with it.
“Well….we had better get ready then,” Greg says trying to stay positive even though it was unlikely that it was his gun. However it still could be Chris’s big secret and the more Greg thought about it the more likely it seemed that it was.
“Great! Pack your rucksack full of water and fruit because the journey may take a while,” Chris said before rushing to his tent to pack his stuff. Greg, who was now as eager as Chris rushes to his tent to pack his sack.
As Greg packs his rucksack he notices that his food supply is very low, no doubt some of the other survivors have been helping themselves to his stash. Greg wasn’t going to penalise them or go and demand it back like Sawyer probably would. However he couldn’t have people just helping themselves to his supply whilst he was gone, there were limits to his generosity. Greg took all he could with him and headed to the food supply shelter that the other survivors had built for the food, even though both he and Chris had there own supply of fruit and water, for such adventures as this.
As Greg walked to the food supply shelter he saw Sawyer eating a mango. He looked at Greg after taking a big bite and smiled, mango juice soon flowed from his smile and dribbled down his T-shirt. Greg then knew that Sawyer had been the one rooting through his stuff, and Greg thought he had moral’s when it came to other peoples stash. Greg would have to think up a plan to help stop people stealing his stuff.
When Greg reached the food supply Rachel was there gathering boar meat for breakfast.
“Hey Greg, I have got enough boar for me you and Chris so we can start as soon as Chris arrives,” Rachel says, partly excited about having breakfast with them. Greg is shocked by how ignorant he had been by not telling Rachel sooner what he and Chris were doing.
“Rachel, I am sorry for not telling you earlier but Chris and I have something to do, in the jungle.” Greg said hoping that he wouldn’t have his head bitten off by Rachel for saying this. Rachel stared blankly at Greg for a while then she turned away from him and put the knife on the table before taking a deep breath and turning back round to Greg.
“Well atleast you told me, which is more than Chris did,” She said trying to look on the positive side but really she wanted to have a go at Greg for making her waste her time getting them something to eat.
“So you’re ok with me and Chris going into the jungle?” Greg asks,
“Sure, you don’t have to ask permission,” Rachel chuckles as her anger changes to worry.
“Ok, thanks for understanding Rachel,” Greg said going to kiss her on the cheek but pulled back as he realised what he was doing so instead gave her a smile and turned around to head to Chris’s tent.
“Wait,” Rachel says softly. Greg turns back around to face her and she was holding out some boar meat rapped in a cloth. “You might be hungry on this little adventure and since I already prepared it you might as well take it with you,” She said, not wanting to sound like she cared about them and that she was angrier at them having her prepare it and then not eating it.
“Ow, thanks,” Greg said, this time keeping a far away from her as possible as he stretched out for the meat. As soon as he had hold of it he spun around and rushed off to Chris’s tent as the whole atmosphere around the food storage was as cold as it could possibly get.
When Greg arrived at Chris’s tent Chris was not waiting for him outside. Instead there was a lot of cursing and swearing coming from his tent.
“Is that you Chrissie?” Greg asks but got no answer from Chris so walked towards the tent and peered inside. “Ready to go Chris?” Greg asks the Scotsman who Jumps around and hides something in his back pocket before shouting,
“What the hell do you think you are doing just coming into my tent like that?!”
“Well to be fair Chris I did ask if it was you. You didn’t answer which could lead to all sorts of things. Like it could have been Sawyer hoping to find something worth stealing or maybe a boar finishing the last of your food off,” Greg said in his defence, not once fazed by Chris’s angry mood.
“Still you should have atleast have waited for an answer,” Chris said less angrily as he knew he had been beat.
“Ok I will remember that next time you are being dragged through the jungle by a polar bear and I call for you,” Greg says giving Chris a smile. Chris just snorted at the comment and went back inside his tent to get his rucksack. Chris then comes back out again with his rucksack on his back. “So are we ready now?” Greg asks impatiently,
“Yes we are,” Chris says and the two walk towards the jungle. Greg looks at Chris and see’s him look back at someone. When Greg turned around fully to see who he saw that it was Claire and Charlie. Charlie looked at Chris and gave him a nod and a smile. Chris didn’t return the gesture, instead he lead Greg into the jungle.
In the Jungle Greg sits on a log and gets out his water bottle.
“Your not taking another rest are you?” Chris asks,
“Ow I am sorry, I didn’t realise you were planning on dehydrating me to death,” Greg said sarcastically before taking a drink of water.
“Well if you would have mastered the art of drinking and walking then you wouldn’t be so thirsty,” Chris says,
“Easy for you to say,” Greg says,
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Chris says curious at to what Greg meant by such a comment.
“You Scots can drink and do just about anything else at the same time,” Greg says,
“Well, that just about sums up my heritage,” Chris chuckles, Greg chuckles with him and stands up and walks past Chris and says,
“I was only Joking,”
“No you weren’t,” Chris says becoming more serious. Greg felt rather uncomfortable at this point so carried on walking. He then cleared his throat and said,
“So where is this…..” Greg said turning around to Chris but before he could see anything else Chris punched him with a hard fist that set Greg backwards. Greg then felt himself being forced backwards, almost being lifted up and then felt his back hit something hard which ended up being a tree.
“It was you wasn’t it?!” Chris asks, shouting at Greg who was still shell shocked by the attack.
“W-w-what a-are you……” Greg stuttered but was cut off by Chris who shouts,
“You know damn well what I mean Greg!”
“Seriously Chris…..I don’t know what you are on about,” Greg says but Chris punches Greg in the stomach and shouts,
“Liar, I know it was you. So tell me the truth, you were the one that attacked me and poured my water out!” Chris shouts, his eyes filled with rage and his grip tightening on Greg’s shirt. Fear flashed over Greg as he struggled to find and an answer but he finally found one. He spit out the blood that had collected in his mouth and smirked an evil smirk.
“Put me down and I will tell you the whole story,” Greg said knowing Chris was too nice to kill him, however still fearful at what he would tell everyone else. Chris threw Greg to the ground and pulled out his knife and began to circle Greg.
“Ok so now, tell me what you did?” Chris asks his voice croaky from all of the shouting he had done. Greg took a large drink of water to get rid of the blooded taste in his mouth and stood up and staggered towards a log, which he fell on and tilted his head back to get some fresh air. “Well?” Chris said pointing the knife at Greg.
“Ok, first of all I didn’t attack you, if you hadn’t noticed I was in bed after being gored by that boar.” Greg said
“I know, Ethan told me how you managed to pull off such a thing, being injured yet still being able to attack me,” Chris said.
In a flashback, Greg is on the beach watching people rush around in panic after finding out the water had gone missing. Someone opens the door to Greg’s tent and says.
“Hey, how ya feeling,”
“Depends, who’s talking?” Greg asks,
“Sorry, my name is Ethan, Jack sent me to check up on you,” Ethan says,
“Ok, do you have any water?” Greg asks,
“Haven’t you heard, someone stole the water, there is no water left now,” Ethan says,
“Ow my, that’s a real problem, is everyone ok, no ones feeling the heat too much are they?” Greg asks,
“No, everyone’s fine,” Ethan lies, knowing full well that Claire recently collapsed that day.
“Ok, that’s good,” Greg said,
“Yes it’s a real problem,” Ethan said looking puzzled,
“Listen, can I let you in on a secret,” Greg whispers to Ethan,
“Sure, I promise I won’t tell anyone. Who would believe me, I am just the guy everyone ignores,” Ethan said. Greg glared at Ethan in hope he would find out if Ethan was telling the truth or not. Eventually he realises that all he can do is trust Ethan,
“Ok, I know where the water is, I know who took it and I know where it’s hidden,” Greg says,
“That’s great, I will go tell the others!” Ethan shouts excited and he jumps up,
“No, you can’t,” Greg says grabbing Ethan’s leg.
“Why not?” Ethan asks,
“Why do you think I know where the water is?” Greg asks back wanting Ethan to work it out for himself.
“What, you took the water? But that’s impossible, you have been in bed all day and everyone has been checking on you so you couldn’t have got out even if you wanted to.” Ethan says,
“Not if I got someone to hide the water for me,” Greg says smiling at his ingenious plan.
“What so you got someone to steal the water for you?” Ethan says, Greg nods as not to draw attention from outside.
“But why?” Ethan asks,
“I have my reason’s, all you need to know is Locke, the bald dude with the knives and Chris, that Scottish bloke, have gone out to get some more water. My plan will only work if they don’t get the water to camp.” Greg says,
“So where do I come in all this?” Ethan says,
“Well I need someone to stop them for me,” Greg says,
“What and you think I can stop them?” Ethan asks,
“Well I did have my doubts about asking you but with the right motivation I am sure anyone can do anything. If you can successfully stop them from bringing that water to camp then I will give you some bottles of water.” Greg says,
“So what you are saying is if I can stop Chris and Locke from bringing the water back to camp, you will give me some bottles,” Ethan says,
“Yes but you must promise me that you will not tell them where you got it from or anything else I have told you in here, got it,” Greg says,
“Ok, sure, if it means I get some water, everyone else can wait, after all they ignored me for long enough,” Ethan says,
“That’s the spirit, now go and stop them bringing that water back, if you can’t take Locke down then just take Chris, he is weaker than Locke and shouldn’t be too hard to stop.” Greg said to Ethan before Ethan left his tent. Greg then smiled as his plan was starting to unravel.
Back in the jungle Greg is still sat on the log with Chris pacing up and down with the knife in his hand.
“I knew I should have never trusted that joke for a plane crash survivor,” Greg cursed,
“Don’t blame this on him, it was your f**king plan!” Chris shouts and his lunges at Greg but stops inches away from Greg’s face, scaring Greg and making him fall backwards off the log.
“Ok I admit it was wrong of me but you don’t even know why I did it,” Greg says getting himself back on the log.
“That’s why you are there instead of against that tree and why I have resisted the urge of killing you for this long. I mean I can’t believe you let Boone take the rap for something you did,” Chris says disgusted with Greg,
“Who said Boone was innocent in this whole charade?” Greg said. Chris looked rather puzzled at Greg, although he was still annoyed at Greg he was also curious to what Greg meant by it.
In a flashback, Greg is on the beach, in his tent, when Boone comes in. Greg sat up quickly as he thought it was Claire or Rachel who he had been waiting to visit him for a few hours. When he saw that it wasn’t he lay back down slowly.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” Boone asks,
“What do you want Boone?” Greg asks back, not in the mood for Boone’s sympathy.
“Ow, errrrr, I was wondering if I could talk to you about something,” Boone says. Greg sighs and sits up right and says,
“Go on,”
”Right, well, everyone has been arguing over the water, how everyone has been taking more than there fair share, like that big guy and that Charlie guy has taken loads to give to the pregnant chick….” Boone explains but is cut off by Greg who says,
“Her name is Claire, and can you get to the point please,” Greg said,
“Ok, right well I just wanted to know where you stood with this water situation?” Boone asks. Not wanting to sound rude, Greg starts to explain what he thought about the situation.
“Well Boone, they argue over it now, but when its all gone they wont be so quick to argue, maybe more inclined to go out and find some water themselves. After all, they can’t expect fairies to come at night and refill the bottles,” Greg says, Boone chuckles and says,
“Yeah, I agree, when the water runs out they will be sorry they argued over it.” Boone says,
“Who says the water has to run out before they realise they are going to have to look for some themselves,” Greg says with an evil grin spreading across his face which scared Boone a little.
“What do you mean by that?” Boone asks,
“Look Boone, you agree with me that we would have more order when the water is all gone, right?” Greg asks,
“Yes but I don’t see what you meant by your comment,” Boone says,
“Well Boone it’s simple. If someone, not naming any names was to…..borrow the supply of water, then maybe people would have to think for themselves and maybe go out and find water themselves. Working as a community at last and we wouldn’t have to worry about these petty squabbles the camp seems to be having all the time about food and water.” Greg says.
“Are you suggesting that I go steal the water so that people would stop arguing and start getting on?” Boone says,
“What an excellent plan Boone, you sure are a wiz at this stuff.” Greg says,
“But I thought it was your plan?” Boone asks,
“Ow no, I couldn’t think up such a thing. I merely put an idea in your head, but you created it into this, you’re a genius Boone,” Greg said,
“Really, you think I am that good?” Boone said,
“Absolutely. Now you have thought up the plan, you should get on with it, seeing as I am no help to you then you will have to do it on your own. Now what is the first step of your plan going to be Boone?” Greg asks, making it out to be Boones plan all along, which from his previous speech seemed to have worked.
“I steal the water and hide it somewhere,” Boone says,
“Good, that’s step one sorted, don’t forget to tell me where you hid it so if you forget then I can remind you,” Greg says,
“That’s a good point, I will do that,” Boone says rushing out of the tent, still thinking the plan was his.
“Poor little bugger, but I had to get someone to take the rap for my genius,” Greg chuckled as he watched his plan begin by someone else’s hands.
Back in the Jungle Greg’s plan was slowly beginning to unfold to Chris.
“Ok, so maybe Boone isn’t as innocent as I first thought but you made him believe he was to blame and that it was his plan. He even tried to give the water back, which is more than you did,” Chris says,
“Yeah well, I would have if I would have known that Claire got hurt, but nobody cared to tell me that did they?” Greg said slightly angered by the thought of his plan hurting Claire in such a way.
“So why did you do the stupid plan if you knew people were going to get hurt?!” Chris shouts waving the knife at Greg again.
“I did it for the camp Chris! For 3 days I watched people complain about the water running out and the food going missing and the first thing they did was blame someone for it. They didn’t go look for some themselves they just pointed the finger and hoped that food would magically appear in front of them for doing so. I was sick of watching the camp tare each other apart when really we have better things to worry about. I wanted it to end Chris, so I didn’t something to make sure it ended. And you have to admit Chris that if it wasn’t for me, then you would still be blaming Boone for it, heck he would probably be tied to a tear by now, being tortured by one of you to tell them where the water was.” Greg said standing up and staring at Chris directly in the eyes. He spat some more blood out from his mouth and whipped the remaining blood from the side of his mouth with his shirt sleeve.
“That’s not the point Greg; you risked everyone’s life just to make some stupid point. Charlie was right to convince Claire to move as far away as possible from you,” Chris said turning around and grabbing his rucksack. Greg’s stern look turned to one of confusion and surprise as he tried to take in what Chris just said.
“What did you just say?” Greg croaked,
“Ow, your smart enough to con the entire beach but you aren’t smart enough to know when a wee little Scotsman con’s you? You’re a joke,” Chris said as he slung the rucksack over his shoulder. The sound of thunder roared through the sky and seconds after it started to pour down with rain, making the ground into an instant muddy puddle.
“Just tell me what you said Chris!” Greg shouts as he becomes scared that he had just revealed what would be his downfall in the camp and had not gained anything from it.
“I took you on this trip so that Charlie could convince Claire to move to the caves with him. He knew that you would have something to say so asked me to take you for a walk long enough for him to convince her.” Chris said turning to Greg who looked thunder struck from what Chris had just said. “I don’t like it any more than you do but…..” Chris started as he turned around to again to look where he was going he heard something rush behind him. Before he could turn around Greg had grabbed him and slammed him into the tree, forcing him to drop the knife.
Greg grasped Chris’s throat and crushing his windpipe. Chris turned purple as he struggled to breathe, Greg’s eyes burnt with rage as he continued to hold Chris up by his throat. Finally Greg realised what he was doing and his eyes filled with tears. He put Chris down and let go of him, allowing Chris to get some air.
“I’m sorry Chris I….I…I,” Greg started but took a solid punch from Chris followed by a powerful straight to the face, making his blooded nose even worse and sending him backwards into a muddy puddle.
“You think Charlie taking Claire to the caves is not safe. I think she is safer there than anywhere with you!” Chris shouts as he becomes soaking wet from the rain.
“I am sorry Chris, really I am. I was scared for Claire’s safety. There are polar bears in the jungle, as well as boar and…….She’s pregnant Chris, she won’t be able to protect herself from whatever’s out there. Charlie won’t be able to protect her from whatever’s out there,” Greg said trying to convince Chris that it was best that Claire stayed at the beach.
“What and you think you can protect Claire from the evils of this jungle?” Chris asks,
“I can sure do a better job of it than Charlie, after all, he hasn’t seen everything this jungle can offer,” Greg answers,
“You mean the monster don’t you?” Chris says sounding more sympathetic for Greg having seen what he did that day than angry.
“You think you know what a true monster is Chris, you think you know what fear really is. But until you stare fear in the eyes and see what a true monster can do, you know nothing. Charlie has no idea what’s out there, what’s waiting for us to make one stupid mistake. And then……it’s going to kill us all Chris. And for once in my sad, pathetic excuse for a life, I am scared, not just for my own safety, but for Claire’s, and Rachel’s and yours.” Greg says not once taking his eyes off Chris who had been staring at Greg the whole time. Eventually Chris snapped out of his trance and rushed over to Greg who was being covered in mud. They had been talking for so long that the rain had made the muddy puddle Greg landed in even worse.
“Ok, let’s get you out of here before you drown in the mud,” Chris says,
“Since when did you care about an evil, heartless monster like me,” Greg says grabbing Chris’s arm and being pulled out of the mud.
“Since I realised that you did what you thought was best for the camp. And although it was a cruel thing to do it did actually help the camp work together more.” Chris says pulling Greg completely from the mud.
“So you’re not angry with me about having Ethan beat you put and pour out your hard earned water?” Greg asks,
“Not enough for me to watch you drown in a puddle of mud,” Chris chuckles slapping Greg on the back and then taking his mudded hand away and shaking the mud off it.
“So does this mean your not going to tell the camp what I did?” Greg asks,
“No, I’m not……you are,” Chris says heading through some trees,
“I knew you were too good to be true,” Greg says,
“Well it’s not like I am going to let you off, Scot free. And you never know, if you start behaving yourself and stop plotting the downfall of the camp then maybe I will give you your gun back,” Chris says. Greg stopped walking as he was shocked by what he heard,
“What, you have my gun?” Greg says with mixed feeling about the idea of Chris having his gun.
“That’s right, and quite the gun I must say. You must really look after it when you aren’t being gored by boar and dropping it,” Chris chuckles.
“So you had it all this time and didn’t tell me?” Greg said getting angry now that all this time Chris had his gun all along.
“What can I say, if you hadn’t been so hasty to catch that boar on your own then you probably wouldn’t have dropped it, but I then it would still be in the hands of someone likely to shoot there fellow camp members than anything else.” Chris says,
“I want the gun back Chris, so just hand it over. I won’t ask you twice,” Greg says slowly making his way to the trees which Chris had gone through.
“No chance, I would rather have it pointed at my head by anyone else than in your hands. You will have to take it from me Greg, that is if you want to incriminate yourself more than you already have,” Chris says almost taunting Greg.
“Ow I intend on taking it from you Chris,” Greg says under his breathe before charging through the trees and rushing for Chris who had his back to Greg. By the time Chris turned around it was too late, Greg tackled him and they both rolled down a slope, grappling and punching each other, before they hit something hard at the bottom which knocked them both out instantly.
